In a previous post (can't find it though) Shaun mentioned not to use the blue one's because they belong to a company who will prosecute.

OK, so blue bolster thingy is slowly doing the trick, I have removed 9 of the pallet planks from one large pallet today (only very minor damage to one plank, skill or what?!) but seriously though, is it worth it?
Took an average of 11 minutes per plank (and I'm quite prepared to admit that might be because I am feeble and lacking in a quicker technique), 400mg of ibruprufen over the 9 planks, much cussing and two or three very near misses with the very heavy metal hammer I was using to hit the blue bolster thingy!  I could have been to b & q and back, knocked up the gates I want and probably hung them for less time, effort and pain!!  I will certainly finish stripping the second pallet as well as I have it already but will probably only ever use the small pallets in future projects if they can be used whole.  Its just too much like hard work!

well its just an idea and it may need some practice and i haven't tried it but i'd gave a go at this  -

how about . . . .  get a center punch and grind the end off flat so its about 4 to 5 mm, or roughly the same size as the nails head  used on the pallets.

prize the bottom planks off with a crowbar or flat floorboard bar then with the  pallet on a couple of blocks to raise it off the floor, try and belt the nails through rather than trying to pry all the planks off the blocks holding them on?

not quite sure what the nails they use for them are called but i've seen them in screwfix and places like that and i know they don't wanna come out  . . .

gotta be worth a try surely  . . . . .  :?

If it wasn't for chemicals we'd be organic.

If you buy that blue chisel, why would the company prosecute?

I own a bolster chisel and silly me just uses it for taking out bricks and chipping off old mortar.

No, it's blue painted pallets that belong to a company - the chisel is fine!  I'm going to buy one tomorrow 'cos I've got a load to break up to make a fence  :D

That'll be CHEP's pallets.  They paint them blue.

I use a small crow/nail bar.

As for palletts, we seem to be getting loads at the moment.  Some company drops em off by fork lift almost weekly.  They are dropped at the entrance to the allotments and everyone just helps themselves.  I was down today and some were going to be burned because there are so many not being claimed.
