Potato forks - are they any good?
« on: November 10, 2007, 18:52 »
Help please people - After suffering a lot of fork damage to our spuds this years (mainly due to the wet, cloddy soil that we have to fork over a lot to get to the spuds), I was thinking of getting a potato fork to help, only they seem expensive. Are they any good, or would I just be wasting my money?  :?
So much to grow, so little room....

Like munty says - exercise a little more technique and save your cash.

I actually lifted some of my spuds with a nice heavy mattock this year - drives into the soil well outside the drill & then simply drag across the drill causing no damage to the tatties.

Beauty of it is that a mattock has LOADS of other uses.  :)

I bought a potato fork last year, it's got a longer than normal handle. I wouldn't be without it now.
Sorry to fly in the face of popular opinion, and all that.
