I told him to pick the gherkins small, and did he?

They are enormous wallies.

Luckily the last bag he bought home are proper gherkin size. :)

Can you add to the jars when you get more gherkins?

The way I make the pickled gherkins is to drain the vinegar every day and reboil it and recover them. I have to do that for 3 days, so you couldn't really add more.

The gherkins I did last year by just covering with vinegar went rather soft.

I just pop the gherkins in the fridge until I have enough to pickle them. OH is coming home with lots more every couple of days.

You can't do it with he bread and butter pickle recipes I use as you have to  cook the veg in the vinegar mix for a few minutes before potting.

BQ, you don't like them.
I made loads of jars last year and we made short work of them. ::)
