tomatoe truss growing leaves
« on: August 03, 2008, 23:21 »
Hi there,

Have noticed a couple of tusses on my toms have started sprouting leaves now, have read something about this in a book or on here about whether it is better to cut or not but cant remember.

Whats the best thing to do, pinch the leave stem out or leave it to grow.

Thanks,
LD

I always cut them off. Before you know it they will grow into another stem.
I've also got a number of shoots growing out of the centre of the leaf; I cut them off also.

Is it growing from between the kink of the current truss and the plant? If so it's better to nip it in the bud. How large is it currently?

no I've been niping them ones out, this is coming at the end of the truss, started a couple of days ago and then a day later noticed it on another plant, will probably be 1-2" on both plants by tomorrow.

Thanks for the replys so far.

hi , if you want more tomatoe plants you could allways plant out the bits you have just taken off your tom plants , i dont know if they will mature and give more tomatoes , but they will take if you plant them
