Cauli's fellow plotter said manure ( now I have a question ) I know the well rotted manure is rotted for sometime is farmyard manure the type you buy in bags suitable for the same purpose

If you mean from the garden centre then it will be well rotted BQ, so it will be fine for the same thing

Will have a look in the morning inside the bag, what sort of texture should it be, sorry to be thick, but i have never had green fingers, infact this time last year I even killed of the one remaining spider plant we had. (and the fools gave me a plot)

I am trying but why is it only me that asks stupid questions, I am trying to search as well but I need an idiots guide step by step

if it smells that much it's probably freshish.  From a Farmer stall I wouldn't put it straight on - you can check - if it is still identifiable lumps then it's very fresh.  should be crumbly if it's really good stuff.   Leave it in the bags for a few months (or in your compost heap) and use it in the Autumn.
PS not stupid  question BQ - in fact very sensible to check before you spread it.

Oy Mrs,you know the rule youve been here long enough! Theres no stupid questions!

It should feel very crumbly and nice to the touch.  Not possible to roll into shapes or with any lumps in that feel slightly slimey and dont break down when rubbed
