Renovating an overgrown ornamental quince

We inherited this shrub over twenty years ago and, despite pruning side shoots off to get flowering spurs, and cutting some stems down to the ground, it has become a sprawly nightmare. What is the best way to rejuvenate it?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Is an ornamental quince the same thing as a Japanese flowering quince (chaenomeles)?
