Munty's bean frame
« on: March 14, 2013, 20:06 »
I have just read most of the thread on the FAQ forum with interest. My question (which is basic and probably silly) is do you have to dismantle and rebuild this every year because of bed rotation etc? I am not particularly keen on runners (always seem stringy) but I was thinking of doing it for peas or French beans

No probs fixed now  ;)

I grow my beans in the same place for a few years at a time,  I tend to dig a trench fill with compost/paper/card etc to add moisture/nutrient so I think this helps keep the soil fresh

I built mine with extra side braces for better strength. If I have to move it, it can be lifted as one unit and not very heavy as mine is only about 4-5 ft wide. I too have left mine in place for a number of years since beans don't have the same problems other veg do.

I've got a timber and wire fence running round my big veg patch, about 3 feet high, and I'm planning to use that as the vertical at the back, so that's definitely going to be fixed.
