How to deter cats from messing in my veg beds?
« on: July 08, 2013, 19:00 »
does anyone have any effective tips for stopping the cats doing the do in my veg beds.

Last night I sowed spinach seeds and then came in from work tonight to find a dirty big poop right in the middle

I found cayenne powder sprinkled around the edges worked well but needed to be reapplied twice a week.

Keep it wet. If its dry, cats think its fair game as a litter tray. Have this issue in my garden on a daily basis. As I don't like wasting water, unlike some, I have to suffer. Have tried the garlic granules and they do work, but only so that the cats move on elsewhere in the garden! A whole garden smelling of garlic isn't quite right! I tried cayenne but it didn't work on the local cats, but it may work for you. Don't buy a sonic thing. Waste of money from everyone who has bought one.

As a number of our members like to post cat hate replies and cruel methods of dealing with them,  all of which have been edited out by the moderators and myself, I have locked this thread and may well ban the topic completely in the future !

I use one (CatWatch).  It works a treat and is recommended and used for protecting nesting sites by the RSPB.
