Title: Pruning Summer Jasmine
Post by: cheshirecheese on November 25, 2018, 16:06
I bought a tiny pink jasmine in a little 5cm pot in the summer, which I subsequently transplanted into bigger pots in two stages - it's now in an 18cm pot, and was flourishing.  However, we went away in September for a couple of weeks, and our neighbour 'forgot' to water as promised.  The leaves are now looking a little anaemic (despite being fed regularly since we returned), and it seems to be dying off, although there is also what looks like healthy growth.  What's the verdict?  Should I really prune it back hard and nurture it over the winter, or just take a few inches off the ends?  I have a beautiful well established white jasmine growing over an arch that would survive a tsunami I think!  Hopefully this one will therefore survive, given the appropriate tlc  ;)

I would go with the latter option and lightly prune for now.  You can always take off dead ends in the spring.  Jasmine are pretty tough, so it might surprise you  :)
