i used to mix it with sugar, use the sodium chlorate as the oxydiser and the sugar as the fuel for our home made rockets.

Then they added flame retardents   so we used to pass it through methylated spirits and that removed it.

Well, we're both still here Stompy; whether the world (or even just the world of chemistry) is a better place for that is not for us to say!!!
