hi and welcome still waiting on my allotment not much hope. the best advice i can give you is go slow and dont rush planting things that might not grow. have fun

Yesterday I got the go ahead on my plot!!!  

Have planted my leeks and onions, today I'm planting marrow and whatever I can find that looks viable to grow.

The other people on the lot are lovely too. One guy gave me two caulis and another donated loads of carpet that he didn't want (I now have weed supressor!).

The size of the plot is a little daunting (I swear that mine is larger than most but that's probably my imagination!!)

Hope you get a plot too very soon Nicky! I think that I have been particularly lucky as the chap that looks after the allotment where I am is very proactive and if a site has been left fallow or looks like it hasn't been worked he writes to the plot holder to find out if they still intend to use it. Great guy - if you're checking in on this forum Martin - A big thank you!!

Just a word of warning about the carpet though, dont leave it down too long, it can be a absolute pain to get rid of, and some allotment rules dont allow it to be used due to residual chemicals

- okay so the wise experienced ones say no carpet.

But I've never been one to follow sound advice  so my carpet is going to stay until I at least have sorted out my plot so I know which are the beds and which are the walk ways!  (also - at least it looks like I'm achieving something!!! )

As it's such a large plot I want to plant some apple, pear and cherry trees - any advise on where is the best place to buy these from?? I know I can buy them from the garden centres but they are a tad expensive. I also want to train them so I can net them easier - again advice more than welcome   .
