I must try that way for my sprouts skiprat , sounds like you're doing something right with them , i only live across the bridge from you in Grimsby so our weather is not too different, I think the wind today could've flattened any unstaked sprouts today don't you think ?

sounds like a good stake technique, might give that a try too.

We have very hungry pigeons. my cousin was gob smacked  when he saw how plum the pigoens looked. Not sure if he was jealous as he gets skinny ones. Pigeons in my area have a rave party when we grow stuff and they do like the leaves on the peas. my dad hates the innocent looking creatures

Sorry, no experience of growing bosworth but one tip from me - if you have pigeons anywhere near your plot, you MUST cover the plants immediately when you transplant them out.

Otherwise you might as well put up a big sign in pigeon english saying - "here hungry pigeons - tuck into this lot, I don't mind". Believe me, 24 hours uncovered and they're gone!

Hey DD - why did you amend my post? Just wonderin.

To correct the spelling of "pigeon", you had spelt it "pidgeon".

Your post would not have shown up in a forum search on "pigeon".
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
