Apples, Cider What a year
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:35 »
What a great year for apples.  4 garden apple trees and a single pear tree.  78 gallons of juice in four hours!  The best thing was the three families and 7 children having so much fun.

We'll have another go this weekend.

As I make my cider from apples from gardens all sorts of apples get used.  In fact I read somewhere once that it is best with a good variety.  I try to clean up the ground and then shake them out of the tree.  Most people are very thankful that they do not have a load of apples to clear in the autumn and like a bottle or two in exchange.

I use a vigo pulping machine and also their big press.  Its pretty straightforward and a good deal of fun.  Give it a go
