The YABBA Commemorative Photo Fest
« on: August 18, 2011, 18:03 »
As many of you know our friend and forum member Yabba (Paul) passed away, very sadly, not long ago.

This photo competition is to remember him.

Dahlias and Chillies were the things that most of us associate with Yabba so please post a photo in that theme.

There will be a prizes for the winners of a 10 gardening voucher each.

This competition will run until the evening of Sunday 25th September 2011

The simple rules:

  • You can enter up to 3 photographs into the competition which should be no more than 640 pixels wide.
  • It can be anything you want that is dahlia or chilli related.
  • It should be accompanied by a short title and some description.
  • The competition is open to all "Full Members" i.e. those with more than 50 posts.
  • At the closing date we will add a poll for members to vote on and the most popular photo will be the winner.
  • The winner will receive a prize as listed above and the winning photo may be placed in a permanent photo gallery along with the best runners up.
  • Closing Date for Entries: Sunday 25th September 2011 when voting will be allowed for a week.

That's such a nice idea Auntie  :D

Here's my entry

The promise of heat to come - my first Scotch Bonnet ripens

I thought this was a fitting photo that Yabba would have liked.

My plot neighbour's lovely Dahlias.  He's in his eighties and cuts a bunch every Sunday for his wife.

My last Pretty in Purple Chili seedlings died :( (seeds sent by Yabba ;) ) so I've no picture of my own to show.
So this can't be an entry.............but I just wanted to post it anyway  :)
RIP Yabba

If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

This tall cactus dahlia has been wonderful all summer, but as the label was wrong I don't know what it is.

Another unknown, peachy pink with lovely dark glossy leaves

Never seen one like this before. Different.

Well I'm not the gardener so it will have to be a photo of Mrs HFs efforts in the garden here.  I think these are dahlias though not prize blooms I'm afraid?  Hope YABBA would have liked them anyway it's the thought that counts. :)

Had a truly lovely day during our hols to IOW and this photo sums it up - the end of the summer, winding down quietly sitting in the sun  :D :D

Yes, just trying to find the cable!

Here it is: not very good but I wanted to enter for Yabba.  These were the only dahlias I spotted when walking through the site.
