Can someone tell me what we can safely use to treat the wood for the chicken shack? Thanks.

Apparently if its safe for bats, it's safe for chooks!  But I don't know if it's easy to find out what is safe for bats either!   

Look on the tin too does it say safe for use with children or pets?

I know some people paint theirs with gloss paint.  I've never done that.  There is also a creosote substitute, but it still has fumes, so a good airing would be needed before putting chickens in the house.

Hi,like grannie says, most treatments will say if they are pet and plant friendly . I was told also if it was safe for bats its safe for chucks, i think the cupinol said it was bat safe. I glossed the inside of my first coop and they have been fine with that. They dont seem to peck at it, and if they do its caused them no harm as they are all well!The other coop i havent bothered with, however when the weather is warmer i will treat the inside with a wood preserver
