Has anyone ever grown these in a pot/container.  Do you think it would work.  From seed, new plants.

We inherited some old ones when we moved here and I notice the rizomes are really big, don't know how old they are.  So I don't know if growing from seed new ones in a pot/container would work.

The roots on these get very big i had some inthe front garden and they used to get riddled with greenfly, aphids and any other passing nasty...drove me nuts.  When i came ot dig them out couldn't believe the size of the roots, they took some getting out.

You can get small lupins but i suspect after a couple of growing seasons they would need to be out of the pot.

I put some lupins and delphs in pots this spring (separate ones, that is) and neither did especially well for me. My best success with them comes from direct seeding outside, more so the lupins, so I'll stick with direct. Must be something to do with the tap root on the lupins. No idea how the nurseries manage it.
