When a favourite Aunt died over 15 years ago, I was asked what I'd like as a keepsake from her house.   She adored gardening and houseplants so I chose an abutilon houseplant.

The plant is still alive to this day although it isn't in the best of shape.

I'd very much like to strike cuttings from it but obviously don't want to kill the parent plant in the process.

So ... no pressure ... can anyone give me a foolproof method of propagating it please?

I think you can take cuttings in spring WG.  Non- flowering ones round the edge of a pot of sandy compost.

I took a cutting from a varigated leaf abutilon years ago.  All the family have had plants from this original one and my sister has managed to keep one in the garden that is almost a small tree now.  I've also taken cuttings from other varieties.  They seem to take easily and the parent plant continues to thrive, if they've got a bit leggy I've cut them back.  With your green fingers there should be no problem.  Hope this helps a bit.
