   Any ideas how to get rid of this horrible engulfing weed i am plagued with it  i keep digging it out but the slightest piece of root left generates new growth.?

There have been a few recent threads on this subject BM.  I suggest you use the Search button, enter bindweed, and have a good browse.  Post again if you have more questions tho'

Me too and I'm all organic. Hoe it, hoe it and then hoe it. Then hoe it some more. Twice a week. You can't kill it but eventually it gets fed up with trying and goes and invades your neighbour instead. It does work, honest.

My cousin's first husband used to put weedkiller in little jars or old cups, put them next to the worst of his weeds like bindweed and then put the tip of the weed into the weedkiller.  He just used to leave it there until the weed died of an overdose!!  mind you, you couldn't do it if you have children or perhaps a nosey pet!!!!

Don't worry you are not the only one battling away against the bindweed!

I have left part of my plot covered in it and going to tackle it in the summer with Glyphosate!!

It's so tough that I find glyphosphate kills only the tops. The roots are happily waiting to spring into fresh growth, so pulling by hand and spade are the only real way to be rid of it. And if possible, keep up with it so it can't spread faster than you can dig.
