Having had a wander round the estate this morning it's the first time I've seen flowers on my Cotinus (Smoke bush), my Snowy mespilus has purply-blue berries on it, my hosta leaves are virtually intact, and my shrub rose hedges still have all their leaves on and look very healthy too. Is this due to the heat and has anyone else noticed any differences this year from others?

Sure have, the weeds are still growing, but I haven't cut the grass for about 4 week - it practically all gone 
The other thing is I am getting up much earlier, about 6ish to water everything.
The succulents are having a field day with lovely flowers and babies on them, and like you all the flowers are looking brilliant, happy little girls, and the roses are good, except the winds here keep blowing the petals of stuff.  The wood pigeons just go and sit for hours in the bird bath which makes me laugh, so yes there are alot of positives.   regards Mrs Bouquet

The door is open from the moment I get up until it starts to get dark - wonderful. The cat agrees with this, as well!

As did my winter tog king size duvet although the weight of it when wet snapped one of the washing lines  Nice to get it done and air dried though, curtains and sofa covers are also on the list.

[Plot 1 Problems]

The only advantage is that my shady plot isn't a negative this year.
The downside is that everything that normally doesn't bolt is.

Lack of mowing - definitely! But I did The Patch today as there's an inspection tomorrow and we want the new people taking over to start with a clean slate...

Baking hot still, although an hour of good rain today may well slow down the heat!
