Greenhouse downpipe - please can anyone suggest something that won't leak?

Hi,

I have an old greenhouse with narrow, rounded guttering and can't find a downpipe kit for it - all the ones available seem to be for squared-off guttering.

Previously I've tried to construct something using plastic plumbing piping and duct tape - but it leaked all the time and wasn't very successful.

Please can anyone point me to a suitable kit, or suggest a better alternative method than mine?

I'd be very grateful for any tips.

Thank you!

Pim.

You could bolt a piece of chain to the gutter end and drop the other end in a barrel. Should work providing the chain is almost vertical.

Ooh, Blewit, now that's clever! Hadn't thought of anything like that! Won't it leak where I bolt it, though?

A dab of silicone sealant should stop any leaks.

Half-round guttering? is it an Elite greenhouse? - because you can buy downpipes specifically for those, as shown here

http://www.twowests.co.uk/product/rainwater-collection-kit-for-elite-greenhouses

Other places could sell them cheaper as well  ;)

Just a piece of 40mm waste pipe cut so there is a tab which can be screwed or bolted to the gutter.
Put a drip on the underside of the gutter with silicone mastic first to ensure the water comes off near the centre of the waste pipe.

Thanks a lot, everyone. Mum, I don't know what the greenhouse is, unfortunately - one of the common makes I assume, a regular 6 x 8, but more than 60 years old with no obvious branding.

I have an old Asthma inhaler thing shoved on the end of the greenhouse guttering, and a piece of hose shoved onto that. I think my dad must've found it after someone had thrown it away. It's just held on by some garden wire.
It does the job I guess  ::)

Aarg, just checking out the Two Wests guttering option - but delivery is £19-99, almost as much as the kit! How on earth can that be for a few bits of plastic??
