new bedroom should it be allowed?
« on: January 19, 2017, 19:00 »
Hi not posted in the chicken board before so hello everyone.
Since the quarantine my hens (4) and their coop (omlet) have moved into my 8 by 6 greenhouse ... they have every night since gone into their coop and I've closed the door. Obviously they are in a greenhouse, the door slides & I know foxes don't have hands but it makes me feel safe knowing they are totally safe.  Anyway just gone in to say goodnight and they are all perched on my potting bench ... leave them or put them in the coop?
FYI I have had borrow exits / entrances in that part of the garden (not in the greenhouse ..)  now I've typed this out my question seems a silly one 😕
2 Books and No idea!!!  Learning as I go!

FYI the  roof of the greenhouse was damaged by the gales so it's covered with tarpaulin which is held down with guide ropes ...

Lock them in the coop, tarpaulin won't stop a fox, foxes only bothered about finding their way in, don't think of escape route until it is needed
A woman's place is in her garden.

You can always put a torch in the house to encourage them to go in, then creep up & remove it

There might be a reason why they do want to go in, so in daylight have a look around for holes; small for mice bigger for rats.

What are they doing now? Are they still heading for the bench?
Just wondering because my Katie's latest trick is that she decided she doesn't want to be warm and cosy with all her pals in the big coop, and has decided to camp out on the small coop roof. All on her own, mid moult and missing half her feathers, in the freezing cold,
That chicken causes me more angst than all the others put together.
