bottling elderflow champagne
« on: June 05, 2014, 17:32 »
Hi all,

I have some swing top 1 litre kilner bottles.

Would these be ok for bottling the above?

A lot of places online advise letting the fizz out everynow and then to prevent explosions.

I have also seen videos online of people bottling, corking and caging the bottles but not mentioning letting the fizz out.

so my question is with the swing top bottles would I need to let the fizz out to prevent explosions?

Thanks

Honestly i think plastic bottles are best, you can let the pressure off slowly now and again and give the bottle a squeeze to get any raised sediment out of the neck of the bottle before topping up.

You can not do that with a glass flip top !
