best wire for tree support
« on: March 10, 2014, 23:08 »
What is the best type of wire to use for training trees to espalier shape. I have used the heavy duty galvanised wire from homebase but it has snapped. I would be looking for a about 200m plus so something reasonably priced. Also what is the best way to add a wire tensioner?

Thanks

 Seriously ? I've used 1.6mm galvanised from an internet supplier and the last thing I thought about when tensioning it up with the turn buckles was snapping it, I was far more concerned about the vine eyes I kept bending.

Tensioning tool  I just pulled it tight and took up the slack with a turn buckle.

And if you want something more robust TLC do 3mm catenary wire and accessories.
