im sorry for asking a stupid question, but what is the difference between a pullet and a POL, i know what pol is, thats obvious, but ive just googled pullet and that said a young bird under a year old ? so dose that mean its a young laying hen or is it to young be laying so not quite pol yet ? i have to apologise for my idiotness

Pullet is the name for a female chicken under a year old, at a year they become hens. Just as a cockerel is under a year, and a cock is over a year.
Point of lay just means that they are soon to ate the age to lay - usually from 18 weeks onwards. But, yet, at this age they are still pullets.

Thank you I did not know the difference between a cock and a cockerel. I have been keeping chickens for 8 years! ::)

Mine are always called cockerels, no matter what age they are. If Brian went around saying come and see my c**k, he'e get arrested!!

I thought technically it was a cockerel up until it has its first molt and then after it was classed as a cock ???
