Oh I'm sorry to hear that.  Hope that you can take some comfort from the fact that they were able to end their days with you living as chickens should.

Oh what a shame :( At least the girls had a better latter part of their little life than the start. Well done you for giving them a lovely home  :)

I'm so sorry.

I just lost my Alice (ex batt) so know just how you feel.

I'm consoling myself in that she died peacfully in her own nest box which is a million times better than ending up as a chicken pie or a vindaloo.

Hope the other one pulls through.

Oh I'm sorry to hear about this.  It must be terribly sad for you, but those girls have had a good second half of their lives with you.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

What symptoms were they displaying? What were their combs like?
Their crops?
Do you think it was old age?

I noticed that one of my ex bats was developing a blue comb last week in the heat despite having on demand access to water.  She's the dominant one too, so it wasn't the other girls being bullies.  A quick bowl of water soon sorted her out.
