Anyone grown Daikon Radish?
« on: August 16, 2016, 19:25 »
This is my first year growing it as I love the taste although it was hard to get hold of the seeds!

They seem to be growing well but some of them (maybe a quarter) have started to flower... I assume this is a bad thing and has started to bolt as it is a root veg... I can't see anything online to confirm this though

Yes, I grew it this year out of curiosity to see what it tastes like. Won't bother again. However, turning to your question about flowering; yes about half of mine have started to flower but I doubt it'll bother the compost heap

Have you harvested some already then Alan? I haven't harvested any yet but I can see they are growing well! They are great for Korean style cooking...

Yes,  pulled up a couple. They are about medium carrot sized, ie about 6" long and about 1" diameter

Ah, about the same as mine, mine are probably slightly smaller. I am being greedy and waiting for them to get a tiny bit bigger :)

Grew them a couple of years ago...long big roots which survived over winter. Very nice when sliced in a stir fry.
