Happy New year to all - hope it's a good growing year weather-wise wherever you are.
-
Yes - Happy New Year!
I did think I might get to the plot today as when I opened the curtains it looked dry and bright. Yay!
By the time I came downstairs and put the kettle on the sky was dark and it started raining, big fat drops :(
Oh no! it means I'll probably have to tackle the ironing pile before it topples over
-
Absolutely hammering it down, rain, hail, sleet. Need to go up to the garage to get tonight's dinner out but not going out at the moment! Weather warning in place for the Island and for once it's coming true.
-
cold but dry here grey sky's nothing but grey sky's but no snow its all gone :D haven't ventured out much today only took my daughters dog out for a stroll but he's going back home today so its going to be back to normal tomorrow finding a few jobs to do possibly lighting the greenhouse stove and doing a bit of prep for spring
-
Soggy and grim. Perfect weather for new year's bacon and egg sarnies
-
It's dark and dismal, wet and miserable. The fields are filled with pools of water. At least the coming gales will help dry things out! ???
-
Same here as for Goosegirl. Lancashire is the rain capital of England it seems!!
-
It's dark and dismal, wet and miserable.
Exactly the same here in the SE, the footpath was flooded earlier on, but it has eased up a bit now. I've had to have the lights on all day cos it's been that dark :(
-
unusually its also wet in West Wales :D :D
-
Cold and wet here today. :(
Tomorrow will be different though - cold, wet, and very windy.
-
A beautiful bright winters day here but storm Elenor has just started to hit so now blowing hard.
-
Right now it's chucking it down with severe gales forecast for later. Good on you Storm Eleanor
-

Ditto here. I think we'll escape the worst of the gales, though
-
It's a little damp and breezy here - around 80mph gusts! Started the day by replacing a pane in the greenhouse door that spontaneously shattered. I assume the frame flexed and put pressure on the edge. Nearest glazier is 6 miles, and not cheap :(
Poor chickens - I've made them a sheltered spot in the secure run but the wind can just go through the mesh door. Went out this afternoon to give them some mixed corn and the browns ran to the door. A gust came and one of them took off and was frantically flapping. Strangely the cats are hardly going outside...

Is this in the script for the next 'Back to the Future' film?
(we all know you meant yesterday afternoon, really :nowink: )
-
Just had a gust of 54mph here, the strongest yet from Eleanor, who clearly hasn't quite finished yet.
Black wheelie bin retrieval count: neighbour 2, me 3, although they've just been emptied so I've brought mine in and laid it down to save Eleanor a job! ;)
-
Winds have eased down here, but very grey and wet :(
-
We have had quite a lot of rain (10mm) between 6am and 8.30am and yes, the footpath has flooded yet again ::)
So, it's grey, wet but mild at 10C, with a low of 6C overnight in the greenhouse.
I noticed yesterday that nobody's solar lights are working as they've been too long without sunlight, making the footpath very dark in the evening :( Roll on Spring!
-
Wet. And more wet to come it seems.
-
Wet start this morning, but calm. Suddenly got very windy this afternoon, which probably marks the beginning of the next cold spell which is forecast to last for at least several days. It was 9C this morning, now it's only 6C. :(
-
Pouring with rain and has been doing so since first light. I fear for the poor souls in the Eden, Caldew and Petteril rivers catchment areas
-
Blue sky here, but the wind is chilly. Hopefully it is doing some good and drying the plot out a bit ( ever the optimist me  )
-
Clear blue sky but a stiff NE breeze making it feel -1.
Picked some sprouts and PSB at lunchtime and it was not pleasant.
-
Clear blue sky but a stiff NE breeze making it feel -1.
The same here Brr! but it was nice to see the sun and get to the allotments for some fresh air, even if I didn't stay for long
-
Beautiful clear blue skies here.
-
Beautiful hard blue sky and sunshine but 3 hours outside was more than enough even with my thermals on. Still, could be worse.. we could be in NE USA. I looked at their weather and thought it didn't seem that bad until I realised the temps were in Fahrenheit! -3ºF = -19ºC although -40 is the same however you measure.
-
Bright, very cold but with some lovely sunshine, shame I didn’t have time to go to the plot
-
-3.9C here at 0800 this morning, making it the coldest night of the winter so far. The parsley which was looking very spritely when I picked some for tea yesterday has now got a severe case of the droop.
Sunny day, but at this time of year the sun doesn't get high enough to melt what is a very heavy frost on my car, so later I'll be belatedly joining the small army of scrapers I watched earlier this morning from the snug (and smug) warmth of my front room. ::)
-
At least we had one sunny, although cold day yesterday :)
Today brings grey skies, no wind, no rain and 4C (1C overnight) does this count as no weather?
-
Beautiful bright crisp day here.
-
Grey here, but not as cold as yesterday. The chill wind has eased off.
-
Dull & very cold here today then turned damp & drizzly at around 4.30
-
Last night the wind was really up and I got a bit worried about the greenhouse. So at 1am I headed out to check the doors were clipped. The wind was cutting and it was freezing but the sky was incredible - absolutely full of stars. Around the side and back we've no light pollution so, when it's cloudless, it's really magical.
Today was, I believe, as cold as yesterday but it felt warmer as the wind was down.
-
Yes the same here in West Wales, @ 4am this morning our little pup needed to go out and the sky here was also clear and full of stars and the frost was sparkling on my shed roof
Today though on the allotment the ground hasn't thawed all day, hey its dry though guys which means we can even for a short time do something outside :D
-
It's just been dreich all day :( I just hate it when you have to have the lights on all day.
-
Yesterday was dark and dismal. Blew a gale last night but this morning we are back to bright and crisp.
-
It's a bit milder than of late, calm and
(http://timothykurek.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/free-illustration-sun-smile-cartoon-smiling-rays-free-image-on-the-cartoon-sun-272x125.jpg)
:)
-
The sun has got his hat on here as well :) Much better than the gloom and drizzle of yesterday.
-
Mild but thick fog all day. And there are muppets driving without their headlights despite the poor visibility...
-
Misty, calm and compared with recent days, mild at 5C
-
Somewhat milder today, wet this morning but then w3 too had a few hours of lovely sunshine, but not enough to tempt me to do any gardening as it’s still so wet.
-
Tuesday night it poured and the ground was wet this morning but another nice bright day here with lots of blue in the sky. Stayed damp though.

You should move slightly north east, John. Dry here, in Llandudno area, and fairly mild , just a bit gloomy.
BTW, any chance of restoring member's locations when they post, please? It would make threads like this relevant.

They were reinstated, in December - I can see yours.

Have you tried refreshing your browser?
-
We have a family saying "It's always sunny in Llandudno" from holidays there - my memory of sitting in a cafe watching it pour must be false!
I must admit to wishing we were over near Conwy where the weather tends to be better than Snowdonia and 300 or 400 feet lower where it is a bit milder but we are where we are.
Today is light cloud according to the BBC and cold, damp and drizzle in reality. Such is life.
-
Hi John, have had a meal around, but still can't see anybody's location. Ok, I give up, how do I refresh my browser, please?
-
OK - refreshing your browser means re-loading the page. The method varies between browsers so just google it.
With Firefox it's the symbol top left in the screenshot that I've circled in red. Often hitting F5 will do it.
I've also circled where your location appears in case you've just missed it (something I do!)
-
Thanks for that, John, tried refreshing, even completely unloaded site and logged back in, but still on the launching pad!

What computer system & browser are you using?
-
Am on apple I pad and using google.

Howling gale
-
Howling gale
It's got a bit windy here - windier than the BBC said for sure but not a gale.. yet
-
6C, part cloudy and breezy
-
It is 6C, but feeling colder, grey and damp, 3C overnight in the greenhouse.
-
Half an inch of rain today, mostly overnight - temperature starting to drop as the colder weather approaches and the wind's getting up too.
Met office forecast now showing a yellow warning for snow for tomorrow, Wed and Thurs, which I shall of course take with the usual pinch of salt (although I may need a bit more than a pinch if they're actually right this time! ;))
-
Half an inch of rain today, mostly overnight - temperature starting to drop as the colder weather approaches
The same here, temp drop quite noticeable from earlier this afternoon. Windy spell for us was earlier today, but quite calm now.
-
Cold, wet and windy sums things up here. No snow predicted though.
-
Sunshine and blustery showers, mostly sleet, temperature 2C with a 'feels like' of -4.2C (black bin collection day today - I will only briefly check the 'feels like' for myself when I nip out to fetch it back in!)
-
Lovely to see the sun, now and again, isn't it 8)
8C today was 2.5C overnight in the greenhouse.
The wind is really gusty now, but forecast is for up to 70mph gusts tomorrow night/Thurs morning
Batten down the hatches time again!
-
Sleet here today. Apparently there is a storm on its way Wednesday and Thursday.
-
What a day: wind cutting through my coat, flurries of snow and hail and no improvement for days according to the BBC. It's so horrible that I'm actually happy to be inside doing the accounts!
-
It's so horrible that I'm actually happy to be inside doing the accounts!
I truly feel your pain. Bad enough here, but I can't imagine what it's like in an exposed area like yours.
-
very very cold ,the wind cuts into your face like a knife its freezing.we have had power cuts in the night and im late for work
-
Hideous morning. Sky as black as your hat, 1C, gale force wind and snowing horizontally
-
We have blue sky and sunshine, but the wind is very cold and cuts through you alright.
Commiserations to those with snow, hail and other nasties to add into the mix :(
-
Couldn't get to sleep with the wind howling and things banging around. Actually checked the greenhouse at 2.30am as I heard a crash. All was well :)
It's a bit calmer now but cold - wind coming back tonight. I might head out to the potting shed although I feel like going back to bed if the truth be known.
-
Calm after a very windy and snowy night. Apparently another storm on the way tonight.
-
It got really wild around 3am to 5am - I lay there thinking that even if the greenhouse was in trouble there wasn't much I could do about it.
Fell into a really deep sleep when it calmed down and slept right through the alarm so the hens got an extra hour in bed, which they weren't very pleased about.
Greenhouse OK, Polytunnel OK, Sheds OK (They're bolted into the slabs below) :)
Patio plastic chairs retrieved from the field, table legs had come off (very weird) but I think it will be OK. Pot that was on the table smashed - which is the only loss I can see.
Very gentle wind and drizzle at the moment. Next 2 days looking fair.
-
Are we the only the only ones having 80c of sunshine 8)
However outside it was freezin, "ah geet up this mornin Ah'm still cowd thowt ah'd'a waarmed up bi narr"
-
Are you off your meds Aidy ? :D
-
Are we the only the only ones having 80c of sunshine 8)
We were, and got some washing dry on the line, first time in ages - but now we have big fat drops of rain falling - mad cat is trying to catch them. Sooo funny
-
Wild, wild winds in the night woke me up as it redistributed the wheelie bins folk had put out for collection today. Luckily they were the recycle bins, not the waste bins, so escaped litter was easily collected up again. Wind caught the edge of the giant coldframe at the plot and tore the door/lid off (damn!) but the polytunnel is OK and so are the sheds. Mr S had repaired the roof of one yesterday with new felt and some very long screws, so that averted possible disaster. The roof had com adrift in the previous high winds.
Mild and sunnyish today though, mild enough to almost dry a lineful of laundry :D
-
Some years back I was in Norway, staying with a friend. I went out onto his veranda (which had overhead heating!!) and watched a lady in the neighbouring farm hang out her washing. It was about -20ºC
I called to my friend, wondering if she was mad. He said to just keep watching. She came out again with a carpet beater (that's just confused younger readers) and bashed the washing. Sheets of ice dropped off it. Then she unpegged it all and took it back in.
By this time I'm totally bemused and my pal explained it was now freeze dried and would just need airing.
-

I fear for you when you say you went out to check the greenhouse on nights like that, there’s nothing you could do at that point & it must be incredibly dangerous, what if a piece of glass were to fly off when you were there? Doesn’t bear thinking about 😱
-
Very cold, quite a bit of wind still blustering about, then heavy squalls if icy rain at frequent intervals.
-
Clear, cold and calm. Got a nice view of the stars tonight :)
-
Sun is up, lovely blue sky but only 1.5C Brr. Frost overnight with a low of -1.5C.
I thought it might warm up a bit during the day, but forecast is for a 'high' of 4C.
-
Bright and cold.
-
Clear skies but very chilly. No snow last night except what slid off my roof, sounded like a jumbo jet landing in my yard. My VW Golf estate has a 3 foot high white spoiler thingy on the roof now ???
-
Grey, wet and set to be the same all weekend. No fog or snow, so we are better off than a lot of folk, but its dreary :(
-
Chucking down rain, cold and dull.
-
Yup! Same as you 2, persisting it down, I've run out of milk for tea but not going out in this ::)
Sachets of cappuccino will do for now ..
-
Pleasant, calm, sunny but cold day
-
Had rain this morning, now it is beautiful and sunny but cold.
-
I feel it in my fingers, it's wet, wet, wet ::)
-
Rain, rain & then some sleety snow to ring the changes, didn’t settle thankfully
-
I feel it in my fingers, it's wet, wet, wet ::)
I feel it in my toes,
The rain that's all around me
that makes the garden grow
Sorry
-
I think it may be a cold night ahead - lovely crescent moon and hard, bright stars between black clouds. Wish I could figure out how to photograph it.
-
Grey, wet and persisting it down again, plus cold to boot.
The rain has turned into snizzle at present - that great combination of stuff falling as tiny bits of wet snow and melting to general sogginess as it hits the ground ::)
-
Yes, I looked outside and wish I'd gone back to sleep! Cold and dismal :(
Computer gardening today, methinks...
-
Snow here, and it is sticking. The sleds will be out on the field today I suspect - the kids will still want to play even if the adults (and ponies) are completely fed up with it!!
-
We have moved on to big grown up snow flakes now as well. Its starting to lay in the garden, but not on the road as yet.
-
The frost doesn't really want to lift. It's supposed to do the snow, sleet, rain, drizzle in that order thing soon.
-
Yes snow here that was settling when I looked out at 8.15 & it hasn’t stopped since, bigger flakes now, so that must mean I’m destined to do the ironing 😞
-
 Not the ironing *shock! horror!*
-
Poor you snowdrop. It is still chucking down rain here. I went to the plot earlier but had to come home after an hour due to the flooding on the roads.
-
Turned to heavy rain now, so all the ironing got done
-
My pile is still here...

-
Sadly I have a genetic disability that prevents me from ironing. It is easily detected with a test for the Y chromosome. :)
Been a wet old day here but warmer and no strong winds - which is nice.
-
Gloomy and breezy with occasional showers.
-
Mild but gloomy, with that horrible fine drizzle that looks like nothing but soon soaks you through :(
-
A beautiful day here. Temp is about 13 degrees and it is bright and dry but starting to get very blustery.
-
12deg c, but grim and grey. At least I got to visit the plot today, but the ground was extremely sticky to walk on.
-
Yesterday was dry & bright enough to entice me to the plot for 2 hours but no such desires today.
Windy, looked cold & rain on & off all day.
-
Judging by the way the cat was shouting at the door to be let in, and the way he darted in so quickly shaking his paws and looking unimpressed I'd say it's not very nice out there!
We're forecast a pretty strong storm overnight and it's already getting rather breezy, with the old squally rain shower (which sounds rather like someone chucking buckets of water at the window).
-

At last, someone with worse weather than us! - Not that I'd wish it on you.
Just checked the forecast.. storm coming in - winds peaking around 60 mph <sigh>
-
We've actually been incredibly lucky so far this winter - most of the storms seem to have hit NI, Wales, and Southern Scotland rather than us (famous last words)!!!
They're "only" forecasting up to 80mph winds so hopefully nothing too exciting...
-
flippin windy again >:(thats what we get living so close to the sea,but its a price worth paying
-
Blowing a hoolie with lots of heavy rain.
-
Blowing a hoolie with lots of heavy rain.
Exactly what I was going to say! A stay indoors with the lights on day again :(
-
Chucking it down here too, with a nasty wind behind it. And I could really do with some parsnips from the plot and onions from the shed ... >:(
-
Bright, dry, cold and very windy. Dreadful storm during the night but can't see any damage thankfully.
-

Ditto!
Which isn't surprising since we're a few miles south of you and east, of course, being across the water in Wales

Yep apart from a trip out to get some ingredients to make some beetroot chutney,2 batches now made😊
-
It hasn't stopped raining all day here, the wind has been high as well and all the 'fast' services to and from the Island have been cancelled. Some of the slower car ferry services have been disrupted as well, in my 28 years here I' ve only known once when we,ve been totally cut off.
-
The stars are out there is a cold wind, but its dry at the moment.
-
Well there appeared to be a storm through the night that has blown itself out this morning so it’s starting to dry up with the sun coming through, perhaps I’ll manage to walk into town for lunch with my little granddaughter rather than have to use the car😊
-
It was still raining heavily at 7am but has stopped now. Useless going to the plot though - it was sodden yesterday, with one car stuck in the
grass mud parking area, near the gates >:( so hate to think what it will be like today, after more rain
-
Sunshine! Actual direct unclouded sunshine
Time to get the wellies out and get down the plot...
-
It's a beautiful still day here. The sun is just starting to burst through the hazy clouds, and the sea loch in front of the house is like a mill pond (I can actually see the ripples as the bird life swim past).
-
A cold but bright winters day here.
-
All change, on the way Home we got caught in a quick shower but the bonus was we saw 5 rainbows as we walked through it,😊. Just now we’ve had a heavy shower & it’s nearly dark☹️
-
We had sunshine and it was quite mild. It clouded over later on, but a lovely bonus after the grey and wet chill of yesterday :)
-
5C, windy and dull with occasional light rain
-
After a cold, frosty night (-1.5C) and with no wind, the sun made it feel quite warm this morning (9C)
It came over cloudy just before sunset and the temperature is dropping away quickly, we're in for another cold night I think.
-
Baltic but dry and bright.
-
Supposed to be a sunny day but heavy cloud and spitting mainly. The BBC reckon we're having strong winds at the moment but it's actually quite calm.
The new BBC weather pages are pretty naff - and the replay of the regional forecast has gone :( Quite why the BBC has contracted a foreign firm instead of The Met Office for their online forecast is beyond me - and a disgrace since the BBC is effectively a taxpayer paid operation.

Agreed it's crazy. I ended up going to Sky for the weather forecast as they still use the Met Office and hence are much more accurate with their predictions.
-
Bit breezy but not raining :)
Even got bits of blue above the low clouds scudding across us.
-
In the wind we are alternating between heavy rain showers and blinding sunshine 8-9. So it must be March or April
-
2.3C here (lower than at 0800 this morning) and a very gusty breeze, giving a 'feels like' of -4.3C. Occasional wintry showers - ghastly! :nowink:
-
Really piercing, freezing wind, had to abandon my jobs at the plot as the cold just got into me :(
-
Sleety, snowy, windy, blowy!
-
Lovely bright day with clear skies but bitterly cold and a tad windy.
-
Windy, sleet and freezing.
-
Lazy wind - goes through you as it can't be bothered to go around! Pulled some leeks then retreated to the potting shed with its heater. Decided to water the microgreens using a pump sprayer. Pumped it up but just a dribble so pumped some more and it exploded, soaking me as it dumped 2 litres on the floor. :(
-
For the first time this year, I can actually feel some warmth from the sunshine streaming through my office (aka spare bedroom) window. :)
Not getting carried away though - still only 5C outside, with that seemingly ever-present breeze giving a feels-like of -1C. Trying to avoid looking at the forecast for early next week too.
-
Grey and damp here with the promise of rain for most of the day :(
-
It's been an absolutely beautiful day. Cold as the grave at 2C maximum but windless and sunny from dawn to dusk
-
It's been an absolutely beautiful day. Cold as the grave at 2C maximum but windless and sunny from dawn to dusk
Same here - could have been summer if it was warmer. :D
-
Great big fat snowflakes  It's heavy enough to settle, but I think maybe the ground is too wet, we'll see.
-
Had a dusting pre 0700, all gone by 1100, none since, plus the sun's trying to come through, but failing.
-
An absolutely beautiful day here. Bright, chilly and dry. There is a yellow snow warning for tonight though.
-
Bright and cold, 2.5c according to my thermometer, worked hard enough that I was in my t-shirt by the end of the afternoon :D
-
A good sprinkling of snow greated me when I looked out this morning.
-
Light dusting of snow this morning.
-
Sitting here, I can see low sunshine through the SE facing kitchen window, but through the NW dining room window I can see thick dark cloud  Doesn't look like snow, but more like heavy rain to top up of already sodden soil :(
2C Brrrr
-
It feels warmer now it's snowing!
-
Nah it was warmer yesterday while it thought about snowing. Now it's just thinking about snowing and even the crew emptying the dustbins had gloves on.
-
Had some snow overnight and a few light flakes this morning but nothing major.
-
About 3" of snow this morning. Temp now about 1C and forecast to freeze hard tonight
-
Covering of snow here this morning, thawing where the sun has been on it. A good bit more on the hills of Arran visible from the window. Will freeze hard tonight.
-
Snowed all morning, stopped about 2ish, grey and overcast and forecast for frost tonight.
Brrrrrrr - bring on spring.
-
Most of the snow has melted but at 6pm what was left was frozen and crunchy. Chickens are all cosy in their double skinned Eglu and the potting shed has a heater on froststat plus I've put propagator lids on the seed trays that have my chitting potatoes in as a bit of extra protection.
Forecast here is 1 degree but since it's already minus 1 I'm expecting minus 3 or lower. Being 200 metres up the hill drops the temperature by at least 3 degrees. Couple in the wind chill and it's brass monkeys out there.
-
Very cold and frosty here this morning. Just noticed that one of my big pots that I have bulbs in has cracked during the night so it must have gotten very cold.
-
It snowed again last night - thicker than the first fall. Small drifts as well. Currently just under freezing. Hens not very pleased and the cats are well cheesed off so have decided to find warm spots in the house and sleep.
-
It's cold, grey and damp here, temp rose just slightly above freezing in the last hour. Brrr
-
Bright and sunny here, but cold. We had showers of tiny snow flakes yesterday a.k.a. snizzle, but there was no chance of that settling.
-
-7C last night, max all day has been 1C but forecast to get a little milder tonight with snow showers and then back to cold as the grave by weekend. Spring can't come soon enough, I've had a belly full of the coldest winter for 5 years
-
... I've had a belly full of the coldest winter for 5 years
Yes - but it's killing the slugs & snails :)
Most of the snow is melted except on the drive.. which is why the car is stuck on the verge at the bottom of the drive. :(
Should be a lot warmer tomorrow.. fingers crossed!
-
Blue skies and sunshine today and milder, though very blowy. The sun felt quite warm through the greenhouse glass. An illusion I know, but by February I will take anything I can get if it promises things are progressing towards spring somehow or other.
-
Not got above 3.5C here today, with a strong NW breeze making it feel much colder (not tempted me out even as far as the greenhouse!)
-
although it was supposed to be about 7degs today, i just want to hibernate! the wind chill is bitter and i keep looking at my garden/veg patch through the window and cant bear the thought of going out there! even a quick trip to the log store finishes me off.... goodness knows what my allotment looks like! :(
-
goodness knows what my allotment looks like! :(
Probably much the same as mine ::) Never mind, it can sleep a while longer. No point trying to dig sodden soil in the chill.
Today has dawned frosty, still and clear and the ground is frozen. The birds are making a huge racket anyway. They think its time to sing and its lovely to hear :)
-
One minute the sun is shining and the birds singing, next minute there's sleet ...then sun again ...then rain and finally I get a nice hammering from the wind!
February weather is certainly keeping me on my toes as I attempt to clear the new plot in time for Spring! :D
-
The good dusting of snow we got yesterday evening is still here today, but no extra seems to have added to it. Sunny & bright but looks cold.
-
It is actually pretty nice here today. Chilly, but the sun is out and its dry and bright :D
-

I'd say the same but that would incur the wrath of the gods and a blizzard :)
-
I'd say the same but that would incur the wrath of the gods and a blizzard :)
Quite likely  I said on Saturday the day had dawned fine and clear - it then clouded over, rained all day and was thoroughly horrible ::)
-
Cold at 2C, strong breeze and intermittent snow and sleet showers. Too miserable even to work in polytunnel as I need to wade through Saturday night's flood-water to get there

Quite frosty this morning, but pleasantly warm under the sun. The horrible chill breeze from yesterday had pretty much died down mercifully.
-
Well this wasn't in the forecast!
-
Looks pretty though John.
I managed to get into town and back before the worst of the weather arrived, although it felt a very cold 3C and nearly blew me off my feat on one blustery corner ::)
Now it's gusting at 45mph with sleet/hail in the gusts - not nice at all. Glad I don't have to go out again. Brrr!
-
Flippin' 'orrible! >:( Had to go shopping today and it was definitely NOT nice at all. Gusting cold winds and a mix of rain and sleet.
-
Cold, wet and miserable. Was forced into having extra bacon for breakfast to insure that the lazy wind couldn't pass through.
-
Well this morning started out with a heavy frost, bright & Sunny. So we decided on a trip out to Hodsock Priory to see the snowdrops. As we w3nt north the weather deteriorated 😱. We got round the Gardens & woodland walk in light drizzle but very cold. By the time we’d gone for a warm & lunch in the cafe the drizzle was increasing to a good heavy rain. The journey back down the M1 was awful with the spray from the lorries.
Snowdrops were nice though but not fully out.
-
It's lovely here with blue skies, sunshine but oh boy is it cold. Broke the ice on the chook's water this morning.
Took a snap of the pylons marching to the horizon. Strangely I don't normally notice them.
-
Sunny but bitter cold here as well, the wind has started to blow from the East, which I faced as I popped to the co op for the paper/milk
Bought an extra bottle of milk (the filtered longer life milk) in case the weather does get worse :D
-
Typical North Cumbria late winter weather here. Bitterly cold, sunny with a strong SE wind. Great thing is that the fields are gradually drying out. Another couple of days of this and I won't need wellies to walk to my polytunnel for the first time in months
-
Same here as everyone else so far. Sun is out but it is chilly. Not bitter here yet but we are promised that for later over the weekend!
-
Baltic!!!
-
Was on the plot today and around midday it was fine, but felt the temperature noticeably drop around 3. Brrrrrr!
-
I think my super dooper outdoor radio thermometer and rain gauge was not the best buy. It's telling me that it's -26.8ºC outside :(
So, it's cold enough that I had to break the ice on the chook's water but not so cold I'd need to defrost them!
Sunny, pale blue skies with a few contrails from high flying jets heading inland.
-
Beautifully sunny but breezy day. Temp just now is 2C with an overnight low in the polytunnel of -4.5C. Ground is drying up nicely
-
Just back from the plot, it was t shirt weather! Mind you, it is south facing and fairly sheltered so perhaps not representative.
-
Low temp (overnight in the greenhouse) -2.5C rising to a high 5C (18C in the greenhouse :) ) but bitter cold in the NE wind
-
Not too bad for cold weather - sunny with a light breeze and drying the plots. Mind the frost didn't properly lift. Don't think it's going to last though.
-
25 degrees in the polytunnel! Opened the doors and within a minute it was 16 and falling so shut them again.
For us, next Wednesday looks like being really cold. At least it's not 2010 and minus 15 again.
-
Bitterly cold out tonight, thankfully my local off license isn't too far :D
-
Bitterly cold out tonight, thankfully my local off license isn't too far :D
That just reminded me of fighting through a blizzard on foot to get a bottle of Advocaat for Val. The offie was shut so trudged on to the next. Bought it and trudged back. She changed her mind about wanting a glass of it :)
-

You're a proper keeper John :D
-
Local Met station shows -3. Feels like -8 with wind chill.
-
Unusually high pressure here of 1034mb, so it's quite sunny, but that doesn't mean it's warm (1.6C with a 'feels like' of -4.2C in the easterly breeze according to my local weather station.)
-

Much the same here Brr! Just taken veg waste round to the plot and all the water butts are frozen solid - hope they don't split :(
It's 23C in the greenhouse so I'm taking my coffee and the paper out there :D
-
Quite a nice day with a light breeze, blue skies and lots of sunshine. Methinks I'll close the curtains tonight as it's about to get, er, rather chilly very shortly!
-
Yesterday was beautiful day, sunny all day but cold a light breeze,i cut my grass yes i am nuts but it was dry,at least the birds can have a bug hunt and scratch out all the little beasties that are hiding in the grass.
-
Currently -2C . Wind chill making it feel -6. Snow showers already started and due to continue this morning.
-
Sunny at the moment but very cold with a cutting wind.
Had to bring the chook's water in to melt as I couldn't break the ice
-
Pressure even higher today (1037mb), temperatures even lower (-0.5C, feels like -6.0C )
Watery sunshine with that slightly ominous yellowish tinge to the clouds...
-
Cold wind and we have had a few snowflakes blowing about, but not settling thank goodness :)
-
Fair amount of snow, no wind to speak of - just over freezing. Neither cats nor chooks pleased by this. Can't say we're happy about it either. The other cats have decided to sleep on the nice warm radiator shelves until it's over but not Lotty who seems to have forgotten how to use the cat flap!
-
Bright, sunny, cold and dry over the last few days. Absolutely beautiful.. It's a shame the soil is so hard due to the frost, otherwise I would be out there :)
-
Very sunny and warm 14 f outside, ground is drying out ,,,,,i can put up with this weather,,,
-
It sowed hard overnight, turned to passing showers and has thawed bit. Of course when it freezes overnight we'll all need Alpine training.
-
Very cold, and several flurries of snow, though none are settling. All the raised beds ore frozen, except where the garlic and shallots are, the enviromesh cloche is keeping the ground a touch warmer.
-
Heavy and laying snow this morning, but the sun is out now and it is 2.5C so snow has started melting :D
-
We've just hit -5.2ºC and it's not the coldest point of the night
At this rate I'm expecting it to be -8ºC around dawn...
-
Well alot of snow and more on the way, its gusting and my weather app says -18 wind chill feel but i dispute that .
we have had thunder and lightening thiss morning
ive fed the birds .
chrissie b
snowy blyth northumberland
-
Sunny with occasional flurries of snow but a biting wind!
-
A few snow showers today but later the wind got up and was blowing the snow around which made things very unpleasant. Current temperature near minus 7 - how low will it go??
Coldest weather since 2010. Still, it got me to fix up a little tube heater in the veg store to make sure things don't get too cold. It's thermostatically controlled and only draws 50 watts when on. One of those jobs I've been planning on doing since Christmas!
-
I reckon we've more up Hexham way than you have in Blyth chrissie - at the moment. Daughter's at work in Edinburgh and was sent home to her lodgings at 3pm when they closed her university campus. There's a red warning up there so whether she gets home for the weekend we don't know.
-
Currently about 9 inches of snow and still coming down. Last checked, temperature was -4C. Lots more to come apparently. Worst weather since that horrible 2010 winter
-
Not a huge amount of snow here, but it's -5c out already. Don't recall it ever being this cold here before, we normally get avoid the worst of the weather here.
-
When I got up I looked out and was really surprised - it seemed the weather forecast was wrong and it was melting. Actually -6ºC and the wind had blown patches clear. Went outside to open up the hen coop and Oh Boy! Cutting, freezing wind.
-
Flurries of snow still but the sky looks a little lighter , correction horrazontil snow oh and a splash of sun , the robins on the bird table are up to their bums in snow , oh big bags of bird food £1 b and m .
warmth to all
chrissie b
she did the snow thing this morning new shes doing the radiator thing.
-
A light covering of snow but a very strong and bitter wind is blowing everything about. Brrrr!
-
Here on the IOW we have a snow flurry nothing heavy and its --2 and a cold wind,,
-
-4 here but boy it felt colder, still only a light covering of snow thankfully
-
Not much show over night, but the wind is so strong, all my winds are whistling, bad doule glazing (old)and its freezing in the house even with the heating on 24/7.
Roll on spring come back sunny days asap.
-
@ All : I feel for you, with all this snow. Hope it gets better soon! And may everybody be safe!
Here in the Netherlands, no snow but in my town it is now -9, with strong winds which makes the windchillfactor temperature -18,3 now. The dogs don't feel like going out at all :-)
-
Windy here and the snow is piling up a bit now. I have my mother's cat staying at the moment, but he has mostly been a snoring lump under the duvet for the last few days. Today is no exception.
-
Aaw, bless him
That's what I feel like doing tbh - instead I get up as usual, sit around doing nothing much but moan about the weather - what's the point? I'd probably feel better and eat less ::) just staying under the duvet
-
It's just started to snow again. Garden is covered and we can't get out of our road as it's on a hill so Paul has stayed at home and is getting under my feet! :D
-
... so Paul has stayed at home and is getting under my feet! :D
That will keep them warm! :)
-
Hello readers,
Got up this morning let hens out 6:50 and a bit of a thaw started.
I'm in the South of England or UK for the American readers.
Chickens a bit happier although the grass is still mainly covered with snow the paths are a bit clear do hens can get about a bit.
-
We had a little snow overnight - more a dusting than a fall. The temperature has risen to a balmy 0.2ºC and is predicted to reach a scalding 5 tomorrow!
-
We had a good fall of snow last night but as John says the temp has risen a little and there is a slight sign of a thaw. The wind is still ferocious though. My garden has taken an awful battering with one of my evergreen trees and my bamboo stripped bare on the side that the wind was blowing. There are a lot of trees down around us as well. The forecast here is for rain so I am hoping that the snow will clear a bit and I might be able to get up to the plot to check for damage.
-
Our snow finally finished yesterday evening and the wind died away. It wasn't much fun trudging home from work late last night, but better than the night before with snow blowing up, down and sideways, including into my face >:(
Today the temperature is up and a slow thaw is going on. The local mob of starlings are having baths in the dodgy guttering on the house next door and making a right old racket. There are other birds singing, which is lovely to hear after a few days of silence.
The cat is snoring under the duvet again ::)
-
Snow all gone ,, the sun has put its hat on today outside 14 f and iv the tunnel 10 f,, in fact this
afternoon started to rain not for long ,,
-
Same here - it got warmer through the day, the snow all but melted and we have had rain this evening, which did for the remnants of snow in the garden.
-
We never get snow on Anglesey,so what was the 2ft drift of white stuff round the car  ,this stuff is now melting, back to work on monday :(
-
Day 2 of fog, snow very slowly melting, light patchy rain.
-
It's quite warm out there - thermometer reading 8 but I think it had some sunlight so maybe really 5 (it's in the shade most of the time, which is best for air temp readings)
Much of the snow has gone already, just the thick drifts taking their time
I'll start the post storm clearing up later, get the patio table back from the blackcurrants and so forth.
-
It's calm and a bit damp/misty here - 8C.
-
Bright & calm. Not as cold as the last few days. Snow starting to melt.
The siren song of the broad bean seeds are calling me to plant them....
-
Hard to tell what the weather's doing because it's so misty. 8)
Temperaure now PLUS 1.3C so a slow thaw taking place (snow thinking about sliding off the greenhouse roof but not in any great hurry by the looks of it.)
-
Snow & wind all gone.
Thought it was misty here untill I cleaned the windows and now it is raining.
-
Yesterday was foggy all day long, so it was a great surprise to see a glimpse of sunshine early this morning.
So surprising in fact, that instead of having my usual mug of tea first thing, followed by a mug of coffee, I made them both together...
...in the same mug.
Tasted disgusting!
A balmy 6C here now, snow not quite all gone, but getting there. :)
-
Snow and Wind gone but overcast and damp. Thankfully it is a lot warmer at around +6.
-
It's actually sunny outside this morning, was starting to forget what that looked and felt like.
Dare I tempt fate and declare spring has arrived
-
Dare I tempt fate and declare spring has arrived
Hush!
-
Grey, breezy and 6C, agreed it is warmer than last week, but it didn't feel in the least like Spring on the plot this morning! Sorry ::)
-
11c, bright sunshine and 31c in the tunnel. Sadly just started raining which is a pain as the ground is already saturated from the melted snow.
-
Glorious day today. It is such a pick me up after the dreary weather of the last week, although in Worcestershire we haven't suffered anywhere near a much as a lot of the country, so I'm grateful for that. I hope everyone out there is beginning to recover from the effects of the snow and ice, and hopefully the bad days will now be fewer and further between, although I doubt we've quite seen the last of it yet.
Roll on Spring!
-
Yesterday warmer air met colder air and produced fog/mist/drizzle and damp cold but started a thaw. Today the thaw is doing it's thing but gently. Rain forecast for tomorrow so that should cause "interesting times" in the more rural areas.
-
Yes great spring feel to the day, until 4pm when it got cold.
-
Dry and bright.
-
Saw a bit of sunshine first thing this morning & again this afternoon, what a welcome sight it was
-
Practically spring like! Can't believe the turn around in just a few days.
-
Up at 5am and its snowing again,we never have snow on Anglesey, and its here again >:( don't think its going to stick its very soggy snow and its not freezing, good because i need to go to work,we cannot live on fresh air,be nice if we could .
-
I've woken to lovely sunshine, but has rained again in the night - puddles everywhere ::)
Low of 4C and 7C now forecast is for sunny spells and no rain, that would be nice
-
This is sleet??
-

Snow over on Newborough Beach, Anglesey
-
Got plenty of the white stuff here too!!!!
-
John, I don't like the look of your weather, but your cats are beautiful
-
John, I don't like the look of your weather, but your cats are beautiful
Lotty (the stripey Bengal who thinks she's a tiger) and Amber (the sandy coloured blind cat) are firm friends - Lotty plays rough and the other cats are a bit scared of her but Amber really enjoys rough housing. Usually the play fights end up with a mutual washing session.
Dexter, the big black chap, is a lover not a fighter. All the other cats love Dexter but his special friend is Rufus the 'feral barn cat' who is currently asleep on my bed :)
-
Dry for now and a bit grey looking, but very mild :)
My adopted moggy is asleep on the sofa, sandwiched between a soft squishy cushion he loves to sleep on and a fleece blanket. He's snoring so I guess he's comfy
-
Yes, mild :) but miserable weather! It's a shame it isn't sunny as predicted earlier in the week, but shouldn't really complain as the low has saved us from more of the big freeze  :D
-
It's been raining so the snow has all gone, 12ºC which is just amazing considering what we've had.
A little breeze but not anything I'd call windy.
-
11C here in East Mid. Just been loading up the car for a Farewell Pop-Up, no seat shirt, no jacket! Haven't done that for a few months!!
-
9 degrees here and one minute it is lashing rain, the next there is enough fog for the local lighthouse to be bellowing - I know others mightn't like it (people who moved to the area complained and tried to get it stopped but they were told that they bought the premises in the full knowledge that there was a lighthouse so tough!!) but I love lying in bed listening to it bellowing, somehow it reminds me of my childhood.
-
Clearing up a bit after a very wet night and morning - just over half an inch in total, so glad I managed to do a bit in the garden yesterday. :)
-
It's mild..... I just realised that I love that word! The birds are singing and its starting to be just a bit Spring like.
-
Dreary. 7C, cloudy with light rain. Still, it beats last week's weather into a cocked hat
-
Grey, soggy but fairly warm compared to last week. I'll take that.
-
The same in Tenhen land as the last couple of posts. Last week was a bit of a pest especially if you have to travel.
Patches of the white stuff on rout from work which hopefully will go over the next couple of days , which remind me of a 'old wives tale' "If it does not hang around , that's it , but , and there is always a 'but' , if it hangs around , it's waiting for the next lot!!
Not long now to the Spring Equinox !
-
Lovely and mild so would be nice to be gardening, but persisting down - so can't
-
Best day of the month so far. Sunny, calm and peaked at 12C. Got my onion sets and garlic in, tilled a lot of the main veg patch and then twisted my ankle, again, in the mud at the edge of the field
-
Been raining since 0200, 16mm so far, and forecast to continue all day. A chilly 5C. Oh dear. :(
-
28ºC, brilliant blue skies with a hot sun beating down. And then I woke up to grey skies, drizzle and 7ºC, it had all been a dream
-
grey skies, drizzle and 7ºC, it had all been a dream
Much the same here, just a tad warmer. Those Greek sunshiny dreams do keep coming back to haunt me, as well ::)
Summer sun seems a very long way off, unless I go stir crazy and book a flight 8)
-
Summer sun seems a very long way off, unless I go stir crazy and book a flight 8)
Take me with you, please, I'll be very good ::)
-
Been raining since 0200, 16mm so far, and forecast to continue all day. A chilly 5C. Oh dear. :(
Just reached 1" (25mm), same band of rain apparently pivoting slowly around all day long using Sheffield as its axis.
Still raining, still 5C. Oh dear oh dear! :( :(
Having great difficulty at the moment summoning up a mental picture of azure skies, deep blue sea, a sandy beach, and w a r m t h.
-
Soggy, soggy, soggy. Must have really tipped down last night as the all the drainage ditches at the allotment site are full of water.
-
Having great difficulty at the moment summoning up a mental picture of azure skies, deep blue sea, a sandy beach, and w a r m t h.
Probably be for the best - if you dream in lovely Mediterranean technicolour then wake to sodden grey - it's much worse, believe me #depressed
-
Very wet last night but no rain today and fairly warm.
-
Yesterday was lovely - quite warm in the sunshine. The polytunnel was scorchio when I went in. Today is as warm 9ºC but feels colder as the wind is up and it's unbroken grey cloud. They're threatening more snow at the weekend :(
The sheep are leaving the maternity ward and coming back with the little lambs - far too cute!
-
Yesterday was horrible, cold, grey and drizzly - this morning is at least starting warmer at 9C and with some sunny bits :D It's also quite breezy, so maybe not feeling as warm on the allotment, as it does in the shelter of the garden.
Perhaps I should just hide in one of the greenhouses with my cuppa and a book
-
Lashing rain and gale force winds. Thankfully I got two days of work done up at the plot before this started.
-
We had a lovely spring like day yesterday, but today it is cold, blowy and there are some snowflakes drifting down :(
-
We had a lovely spring like day yesterday, but today it is cold, blowy and there are some snowflakes drifting down :(
Exactly the same here :(
-
It's bright but it's been a very windy night and it's cold - just over 2ºC at the moment. Thank goodness Calor delivered this morning - we ran out of gas yesterday so no central heating or hot water from tap and shower. The house is beginning to warm up but these thick stone walls take their time.
-
Stormy, overcast and very cold. St Patrick's Day which is the traditional day here for spud planting but I don't think there will be many following that tradition this year.
-
everything has got a covering of snow and the wind is blowing it about. cold.
-
we ran out of gas yesterday so no central heating or hot water from tap and shower.
That is no joke  Thank goodness your delivery turned up today :)
We have now been upgraded (downgraded ) from light snow showers this morning to potentially heavy ones all day and overnight. I guess you get to share the joy later as the front moves across the country ::)
Its not sticking on the roads here and seems mainly light blow about snow so far.
-
Still just below zero here, with a 'feels like' of -9.2C in the strong breeze.
Sunshine and snow showers - we're still in an amber warning zone for snow, and I can see the showers racing across Europe towards this area on the rain radar. Whether they actually amount to anything remains to be seen...
-
Lovely sunny day but .. occasional flurries of fat snowflakes with a very strong easterly wind.
-
We're getting light snow showers now - temperature's fallen to just over freezing and down to 8 in the polytunnel when I gave in and headed back for hot drink. Trimming leeks in the snow isn't much fun.. should have done them earlier.
It's just brightened up again - really lovely blue sky with fluffy clouds scudding across :)
-
Spoke too soon - just before dark it came back with a vengeance. Poor little lambs all huddled up with their mums.
-
We have had showers of snow all day that have come to nothing, but in the last hour or so the flakes have got larger and its starting to stick in the gardens at least.
My house guest is unimpressed and has taken refuge under the duvet. He does have comfort down to a fine art. Get off the sofa to go and do something, he nicks your warm spot and is out cold by the time you are back ::)
-
Cold and worse with the wind. Emergency brandy procured for late night consideration.
-
We have a thick blanket of snow, the most we have had this winter.... Er. Spring!
-
We have had a fair bit of snow overnight. Not as deep as a couple of weeks ago, but a decent covering. It is wet and slushy underneath though. Last time it was dry powdery stuff.
-
Even we've got it again. Woke up to about two inches, nobody has driven down our road yet and it looks lovely.
-
Bit hard to tell the level depth of snow since yesterday because it's been blowing about so much - in places it's a foot deep on my street and in my garden.
Currently -2.9C with a 'high' of -1C forecast today, so neither it nor I will be shifting much today!
Tomorrow forecast to be much milder - hope so, it's all very pretty, but...
-
It's hovering around -1C now (same overnight) The sky looks full of snow, but none falling yet and the wind has dropped. It's that calm before the storm feeling, even the birds have been quiet this morning
If it does start again it looks as if we'll get a good covering, to add to yesterday's sprinkling.
-
We had snow over night, snow on Anglesey ,whats happening 2nd time this winter, does look nice glad I don't have any reason to go out in the car.Take care if you have.
-
'Nuff said.
-
-3 and a good covering of snow. Still snowing.
-
I’m away in N.Ireland & it’s blowing like there’s no tomorrow, at least it’s stopped raining, it rained for 2 1/2 days solid- Wednesday,Thursday /Friday . Light sprinkle of snow but it’s all blown away, goodness knows who ended up with it. Can hardly stand up outside.
-
Just below freezing but bitter in the wind - 'feels like' is -9º C
Tried to get a shot of the cheeky seagull eating the sheep nuts but he flew off (camera shy?).
Very dry snow, blowing around.
-
Well there's no snow to be seen here even in the shadows and it's actually warming up, hit 9 degrees at one point. Little rain but not enough to worry about.
-
Suprisingly spring-like today. Gorunds is even starting to dry a bit too.
-
Beautiful sunny day here. Garden looks great. Hopefully the plot will have dried out a bit by the time I get up there tomorrow
-
Spring here too today. Spent the entire day outdoors and cut the lawns, planted onion sets, tilled the rest of the beds and was generally in Seventh Heaven. A couple of stiff nightcaps and a good night's sleep beckon for later
-
Grey and vaguely chilly here. Had a great time with the sprog and some friends though down the park, so it was a good day all the same.
-
I'd be singing 'Oh what a beautiful morning' if I wasn't missing an hour's sleep :)
-
Beautiful sunny morning here too
-
It's calm, grey and 9C, with an overnight low of 5.5C (in the greenhouse).
-
Beautiful sunny morning. Down the plot early this morning to get stuck in
-
Fairly grey here as well, but dry and mild, so I'll take that :)
-
Lovely & sunny, even sat outside for my lunch
-
Lovely Spring day, calm and bright. Had a couple of the hours up at the plot with the sprog.
-
4C overnight in the greenhouse 9C now, as I took the seedlings out for the extra light. The sky is grey with a few pale blue patches and it is calm.
-
Another sunny morning & still nice enough to take a bowl of soup out for lunch. Clouded over then & later a few spots of rain, turning chilly
-
Overcast and a little cooler today.
-
Raining & breezy today, I’ll have to do the ironing then 😥
-
Wet, damp, drippy, grey and waterlogged . Its been raining all day and doesn't look like stopping any time soon ::)
-
Wet, damp, drippy, grey and waterlogged . Its been raining all day and doesn't look like stopping any time soon ::)
Ditto :(
-
Same again. Depressing.
-
Same here, we have been planning all week to finish off repairing the fence panels that got taken out in the snow. I've been sat in the greenhouse painting them and the trellis to go on the top each day. Mind you with us both having the lergy I don't think we would actually have done very much. We're both on antibiotics for a chest infection and it's as much as we can do to get up to the end of the garden let alone do anything!
-
Was pouring with rain when I went to bed, and still at it when I got up this morning - well over an inch and currently just 3.4C with a 'feels-like' of -2.5C.
I feel sorry for working people and families who were looking forward to their Easter break and hoping to get out and about in a bit of warm sunshine. :nowink:
-
Wet, damp, drippy, grey and waterlogged . Its been raining all day and doesn't look like stopping any time soon ::)
Yes, and the same again today :( *sigh*
-
Wet & cold, nothing for it but I’ll just have to go & get some retail therapy 😂
-
It's a bitter wind which makes it feel a lot colder than the mercury's 6ºC - double that in the polytunnel but not really comfortable even with a jacket and hat when you've got a cold.
-
I am at Mums in Yorkshire Dales. I think the best work to describe it would be raw. Wet and cold that penetrates and drains your energy. Please, bring Spring soon.
-
Grey and cold, continuing the theme of a rubbish start to Spring.
We demand some sunshine!
-
We demand some sunshine!
Yup I'm in. You do the placards and I'll rally the troops
I'll settle for just not wet tomorrow, so I can at least get something done ::)
-
According to the forecast, tomorrow is supposed to be the best day of the weekend with bad weather again on Monday (snow has even been mentioned). I really want to get on and the garden is looking such a mess that it is beginning to get me down.
-
Yesterday was beautiful warm and sunny but it is chucking down rain dull and cloudy today. I am away for Easter and had hoped to go site seeing today instead I am on here😆😆
-
Just another grey, drizzly day, 6C - it is getting to the stage when anything else is a surprise ::)
-
It has been dry here. We did have some sunny breaks earlier, but it has been pretty grey all afternoon. Not all that warm tbh, but it is OK if you are moving and working.
-
Not been too bad a day, little chilly when the wind gets up. Set the girls to work in the veg garden. Very Easter with the daffs in the border :)
-
Snowing and settling here in North Yorkshire, but due to turn milder, hopefully!!
-
Pic shows the view from my living room window about 10 minutes ago - supposed to turn to rain later and be very mild tomorrow, which would be really nice yes please thank you. ::)
-

Oh no Jay, no gardening for you then.
We’ve just got heavy rain, no cleaning the greenhouse for me!
-
Wet trending to very wet, followed by more wet here and temperatures around 5 - but no snow :)
-
Its the usual rain rain and more rein :(well it is Wales, well known for plenty of rain, its good for the spuds.
-
Heard heavy rain all night and it's still going...no snow as I can tell. Miserable stuff!
-
We had heavy rain overnight. Its just damp and drippy with outbursts of rain now.
-

Same, heavy rain all night and now it's just damp. Sun is trying to appear, but not doing all that well.

Perzactly the same here ::)
-
It's wet here and the very strong winds nearly blew me off my feet!
-
Blue sky and sunshine  It's a bit nippy, but who cares :D
-
Blue sky and sunshine  It's a bit nippy, but who cares :D
I do!
MetO are forecasting a high of 10C, in the SUN that will be nice, but the BBC's more optimistic 11/12C would be even better, wouldn't it?
-
Sunny and warm. I'm in shock
-
Lovely sunshine now although there was a frost this morning, I had to de-ice the car windscreen.
-

I was so happy to see some sunshine, I was undaunted by a chilly start ;)
We got 12C in the afternoon :tongue2:
-
Yes, yesterday was fairly calm, warmish and sunny
Today we're back to light cloud, and the chill easterly/S Easterly wind is back to spoil things *justsaying*
-
Another nice day, put the seedlings outside for a bit of fresh air (it was too hot in the conservatory for them).
Shame I’d got a job on that stopped me getting out to join them ☹️
-
Thermometer showing low of 7.5C in the greenhouse overnight and 11C now, with thick cloud and light rain. No allotment today then :(
-
Grey here, but no rain yet. I'm not sure about the plot, but I might go play in the greenhouse if all else fails :)
-
It's the monsoon season again today.
-
Thermometer showing low of 7.5C in the greenhouse overnight and 11C now, with thick cloud and light rain. No allotment today then :(
Glorious sunshine since lunchtime, so did get to play on the plot :D Now 16C.
-
Glorious sunshine since lunchtime, so did get to play on the plot :D Now 16C.
We ended up with sunny spells, but it was warm and dry so I did the same :D Bit damp and grey here today so far.
-
We had more rain overnight, still drizzly and grey now, 9C overnight and 10.5C now. Temperatures good but rain not so, there's no wind to move it, so have to be greenhouse rearranging or even housework  today :D
It stopped drizzling mid morning and I managed a couple of hours on the plot after all :)
-
Just started raining here as promised, could cope with that but now it’s promised for tomorrow too, & I was really hoping to get out & empty the greenhouse & clean it inside & out, then I feel I can make a proper start on seed sowing. I might have to resort to doing the ironing again 🤨
-
9C grey and misty, with fine drizzle - another greenhouse day, by the looks of things ::)
-
Grey here as well but with more substantial rain ::)
-
Getting hazy here now after a lovely morning - should get a couple of hours in the garden before rain stops play.
-
Beautiful bright start to the day in South Wales. Shirt sleeves by 10 o'clock. Then about 1pm temp plummeted and some very light rain started. Hasn't developed into anything more as yet!
Managed to get my rhubarb and gooseberries planted, so the new plot is starting to leek a bit more loved now.
(Apologies for quality of photo, I'll take my camera in future and not rely on my phone!)
-
A grey day here, light rain. Not pouring, just enough to put you off going out in it :(
-
Dismal; thick cloud, cool and rained most of the day
-
Foggy this morning, foggy tonight. Cold.
-
Grim, grey and cool.
-
Lousy yesterday, lousy today, and guess what they're forecasting for tomorrow? ::)
A less than impressive 5.3C here at the moment, with so much mist it's hard to tell if it's actually raining or not (it might just as well be.) :(
-
Horrible, damp & cold, so much so I think I might need to put the heating on soon.
-
My heating still comes on for a few hours in the morning and evening - I just turn it off if it's warm enough.
Needed it this morning, not really because it is cold but it just feels so damp :( Couple of hours of brightness this afternoon so temp went up to 12C (oh wow! ::) ) back down to 9.5C again now *sigh*
Still heatwave next week - if you believe it
-
One word - rubbish.
Fed up now.
-
Grey and miserable, again.
8.5C overnight in the greenhouse, 9C now and it's forecast to stay much the same all day, with a little rain added to the mix for this afternoon :( :( :(
-
The same as yesterday if not worse, yesterday evening I was out at a do & no end of us where saying it was like a November night & this morning looks even worse. No playing in the garden again. Really might have to bite the bullet & get sowing seeds regardless.
-
Overcast here, but dry.
Still heatwave next week - if you believe it
Oh, I soooooo want to believe
-
Have just been to our local garden centre for lunch ( Beef stew!!) looking out over lots of pretty plants , thoroughly miserable outside , damp , misty , cold and windy. Looking forward to the improvement predicted for the weekend.
Plenty to get stuck into outside. Please hurry up, Mr Sunshine!!
-
Grey and miserable, again.
8.5C overnight in the greenhouse, 9C now and it's forecast to stay much the same all day, with a little rain added to the mix for this afternoon :( :( :(
Guess what? After more rain overnight - exactly the same again for today :( and :( and even more :(
Is this going to be a year without a summer? There have been some in the past......
-
It started well here yesterday but gradually got worse. Today it's drizzling, damp, grey and cold :(
-
Cold and overcast.
-
Cold and overcast.
Same here ... sigh ::)
-
Bright sunshine! And I have a pass to go to the allotment today, happy days :D
-
8C overnight in the greenhouse 12C now, quite breezy - so off to the allotment in a bit :D Lots of catching up to do ;)
-
Nice and sunny here. Going to work in garden as the allotment was very very wet on Saturday and it rained again yesterday so it will take a couple of dry days before it will be dry enough to do anything on the plot.
-
What a storm last night - the cats were terrified by the ghost cat coming through the cat flap every few minutes. Crashing and banging all night as things normally earthbound took up flying! I was dreading going around to the greenhouse but happily it seems to be in one piece.
Calmer now but pouring with rain :(
-
The gloom of earlier has been blown away, as has anything else not fixed down ::)
So bright sunny patches and 28mph gusts ::)
-
The gloom of earlier has been blown away, as has anything else not fixed down ::)
So bright sunny patches and 28mph gusts ::)
Much the same here, except it’s turned to quite dark grey cloud with no breaks in it. Been out to repeg a towel on the line & it’s only been there 1/2 an hour!
-
So bright sunny patches and 28mph gusts ::)
Luxury! :D
-
Sunny & warm - positively hot down by the coast. A little breezy but not unpleasant :D :D :D
-
Another sunny and hot day here the same as yesterday.
Off to plot again soon and so glad yesterday and today are my days off work :)
Sun cream today as have one sunburnt arm from yesterday strangely
-
Sunscreen here too, I have a nice sore and red neck as a reminder from yesterday...
-
Sunscreen here too, I have a nice sore and red neck as a reminder from yesterday...
Think after all the bad weather, like you, I didn't really expect the day to be so hot
-
Wall to wall sunshine & heat today 🌞🌞🌞
-
Too darned hot yesterday - just about bearable today.
-
Another sunny day but a bit cooler due to the breeze
-
Blistering again today. 29 degrees in the shade in my garden today
-
Blistering again today. 29 degrees in the shade in my garden today
 I thought it was hot enough here at 26C ::)
-
After 2 lovely days here, we're back to normal :( Cool, grey and drizzling
-
A nice sunny day here with a slight breeze, so not too hot 20C 8)
My washing is drying nicely :)
-
Breezy, cool and pleasant. Sadly I've been press ganged into doing the shopping this afternoon so no plot time until tonight >:(
-
Yesterday it rained all day but today seems to have started quite well. Sunny spells - threatening rain late afternoon.
-
Cloudy bits and blue bits, but not that warm 12C - typical April weather by the looks of it :)
-
Sunshine and occasional showers (what used to be called classic April weather which we often seem to get all summer.)
Only 11C and quite breezy, so T-shirt weather (underneath 2 more layers of clothing! ;))
-
Sunny, then soggy, then sunny, then soggy, then....
You get the idea.
-
More like Spring, April showers and windy, then warm sunshine.
-
Low of 6C overnight in the greenhouse (good job I mistrusted the MetO's forecast of 10C and brought the peppers and chillis indoors ::) ) just risen to 10C in the sunshine and there isn't much breeze today.
Oh just noticed the lilac flowers have opened today, I must go and cut some :)
-
Rain first thing then got better. I could have gone to allotment and finished of planting my potatoes but it was a bit to wet. I'll try again tomorrow.
-
Tunnel went down to 4.9c last night, but no harm done, soon back to 30+ once then sun came out!
Warm in the sun apart froma chilly breeze that occasionally whipped up.
-
Well it didn't rain at least. A few sunny spells but mainly heavy cloud threatening to rain and a real chill in the wind. Got far less done than I hoped to but at least I got some things done outside.
-
Went to the allotment this morning, just got started and the rain hammered down, never
stopped all day. There's always tomorrow
-
Cold and raining. Even the heating has kicked back on, which offends my inner miser >:(
-
Cold and wet here as well and for us here in the SE, it is due to get worse over the weekend and into Monday. MetO have issued warnings
Valid from 2100 BST on Sun 29 April to 2359 BST on Mon 30 April
Headline: Heavy rain is likely to affect much of eastern, southeastern and central England on Sunday night and Monday along with strong winds.
-
Well it’s persisted it down all day which made collecting a load of manure fun! Lol at least it was all bagged up ready
-
Sunshine, cloudy, sunny and repeat here :) Plus the weather for the next 5 days is set fair with the only rain at night. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny all day. It will be great if just once the forecast is right.
-
Raining again. It's times like this I'm grateful for deciding to use raised beds as the ground is waterlogged again.
-
Eat your heart out, England - this is our sunset :tongue2:
-
Just starting to brighten up after an extremely wet morning (11mm.)
Only 8C though, so I'm very much looking forward towards the weekend when it's supposed to be getting warmer. :)
-
Only 10C again atm, and very windy -will have to bring all the tender stuff back in again at teatime as minimum of 1C is forecast for tonight
C/heating's back on again *sigh* God only knows what the energy direct debit will be when it is balanced up in July ::) Ho hum!
-
Official shade temperature here (probably) peaked at 26C (79F) about 20 minutes ago, Phew!
Unlikely that's the highest in the country, but it's more than enough to send me back indoors (takes me some time to acclimatise to high temperatures, although it rarely lasts long enough to actually achieve that!)
-
El scorchio , el scorchio here in Leicestershire. Too hot to do much.
-
Same as others, hot, hot, hot here. Went to a school fete today but ended up leaving early as the sprog was getting too grumpy in the sun.
-
I got sunburnt yesterday and today was hot but the sun not as strong (now I've found the factor 20) - didn't get much done though been playing at being a zombie all day.
-
In a word, idyllic. Just right at about 20C, no wind and clear blue sky since dawn. All change back to Atlantic weather from tomorrow
-
didn't get much done though been playing at being a zombie all day.
??? Any reason or just missing The Walking Dead since the latest run finished
Blazing sunshine here and really hot all day.
-
??? Any reason or just missing The Walking Dead since the latest run finished
Lack of sleep doesn't help - just going to bed when the cats brought in a live rabbit. Much chasing and it vanished somewhere... have another drink (tea) to calm down and then head for bed again.. notice the cats are all staring at a chair in the lounge. A mouse appeared and a fine old chase ensued again. Finally got to bed at 3 am. Would have slept in but lay there thinking about strong sunshine and polytunnel so ended up with 4 hours sleep. It's a grand life if you don't weaken. :D
-
It was 26C indoors in South Ayrshire today, a little cooler outdoors but we have the added complication that today has marked a huge spike in the mosquito numbers.
I made the mistake of leaving the windows open till 6pm and have spent the past few hours patrolling the rooms looking for the devils! The outsides of the windows are still heaving with hundreds of them. It must be a tough life being a lady mosquito because the males form crawling groups all over her fighting to be the lucky lad. Even if the currently lucky lad is "busy" there are half a dozen others who are trying to knock him off his perch.
-
Glorious sunshine all weekend but decidedly cooler this morning and we have had a rain shower as well.
-
Cool here too and rain
due in shortly arriving now. Oh well, time to put the T shirts away for next year :)
-
This time yesterday it was 25C here in Pontyclun, today 14C, so I'm busy transplanting some brassicas ready for tomorrows showers!
-
Heavy grey cloud today and quite windy - due to get heavy rain in a bit but then it seems we might have some nice weather for a while, which is great as there's loads to do outside.
-
This morning is beautiful blue skies,a slight breeze and best of all its dry :)sad thing its monday >:( and even worse i have to go to work :mad:and be stuck in a cold shed sharpening blades all day.
hopfully it will still be nice when i get home that will make me happy :D.
Have a good day every one.
-
There's a light grey sky with some very pale blue patches and the trees are barely moving.
A low of 7C in the greenhouse overnight and 11C now, when I opened the greenhouses to check the temps. I noticed one of my cucumbers is now just a stalk *sigh* good job I have a few spares (and plenty of the blue pellets of doom)!
-
Lovely warm sunshine here with a good breeze, 3 loads of washing should be dry in no time
-
It was down to 7C in the greenhouse last night, 13C now outside. It's grey and breezy(from the North/NE) with spits n spots of rain *sigh*
-
Sunny, yesterday my life was cold and grey.. but today it's sunshine all the way and reasonably warm
-
Sunny with a slightly cool breeze. Time to get oustside and garden!
-
Cloudy and disappointingly cool at 12C with a north-easterly breeze, although like yesterday it should brighten up later - no respite from the watering though unless Friday brings the forecast heavy rain and possibly thunderstorms...
-
Same here JayG, slightly cooler today, but having to water a lot at the moment, especially as I'm watching other people's plots for them while they're on holiday.
-
20C, sunny, calm and a glorious day. We need some (overnight!) rain
-
We need some (overnight!) rain
We got some - lots and lots of it in fact. It was hammering down so hard it woke me a couple of times. Pretty grey and drippy out there at the moment, but I'm sure the plot and garden loved it :)
-
Well, it's raining at last but not very convincingly (3mm so far.)
Looking at the rain radar I'm not at all sure we're going to get the deluge forecast for today.
-
Grey here and everything is wet from last night's downpour. Surprisingly warm @ 18C considering there is no sun. I might even be able to dig up the remaining parsnips soon, with the rain, hopefully, softening the
concrete soil :)
-
The overnight 'low' was 15C :D So warn and sunny from early this morning 24C now, but 39C in the greenhouse 8)
Still waiting for a thunderstorm
-
Tipped it down again this morning but now it's very hot and sunny.
-
Couple of cracking storms overnight, I got up to watch the 2nd one :D and although everything had a soaking some plants are still wilting in the heat 27C now 8)
-
We've had a couple of drops of rain despite thunderstorms and rain being forecast since yesterday. We now have an amber warning. Hurry up, rain!
-
I'd only been in bed half an hour when it all 'kicked off' sheet lightening and pouring rain. Going on the interference on Sky this evening we are in for something similar.
-
Fantastic storm here in the early hours of the morning with a reall good downpour. Very warm & muggy today with some sunshine. Rumbles of thunder started off about 3p.m. Followed by more rain & then some lightening.
-
Met office clearly couldn't make up their minds - no rain in the forecast but a yellow warning for storms just to cover their nervous behinds!
Not actually had a drop of rain here, either yesterday or overnight. :nowink:
-
We completely dodged the storms yesterday despite them being forecast for all day and night, with weather warnings. There was cloud at times, but never enough to do anything.
Its a bit grey this morning but still very warm and humid.
-
Another storm dodger here! Had the odd distant rumble of thunder but that was it.
Very muggy, grey and warm this morning, my idea of hell.
-
Bone dry, lawns are browning. Sunny, breezy and a bit cooler than of late. We need some of the downpours that you are getting further south
-
Its been roasting here today - yesterday's threatened thunderstorm didn't thunder and hardly filled a teacup!
The night temps are way up too - currently 15ºC
-
Another night of thunderstorms so everything sodden here, grey, calm and 16C - perfect weather for blight and weeds
-
Tipping it down here, scuppering my plans to have a bonfire at the plot. Judging for the local allotment awards is coming up soon and I've still got a lot of tidying to do.
-
Very dull and misty start, and just had a downpour of 7mm in half an hour, which will be gratefully received by the garden but not good news for today's plans (hedge trimming - a job I hate but am now at the limbo dancing along the side paths stage, which is not good news at my age!)
-
Warm enough for a T shirt but cloudy enough to make the polytunnel inhabitable :)
-
Mainly cloudy but patches of lovely sunshine. Wondering if I should buy some greenhouse shading.. if I do then we're bound to have rain for the rest of the year... if I don't the toms will be cooked on the vine.
-
Has been a lovely sunny day here in Dartmouth, a trip to the beach at Blackpool sands proved too hot for hubby & I. So we retreated to the cool of our holiday house. It’s now clouded over & cooled down & is forecast light showers
-
Grey and feeling quite cool, 12C with a NE breeze - after the last few days, that's a bit of a shock to the system; for the plants too I should think ???
-
Yep Mum, put a hoodie on to take the sprog to school and it still felt a bit nippy, big shock after the last few days.
-
Oooh! We've had no rain for yonks, the ground is dry as a bone, and it's also jolly hot but there is a little cooling breeze today.
-
Storm Hector has brought damaging winds but none of the promised rain. Lawns are looking really parched, made worse by all the leaf-litter blown off the trees
-
Sunny and still dry. gentle breeze, nothing like it is up North.
-
We had a bit of rain last night but the winds were far stronger than expected. Really not a happy chappy today, the mini polytunnel flew about 50 yards, new brassica cage damaged by it and the wall damaged as well. I was ready to put the place on the market this morning.
-
We have had a bit of rain overnight and earlier on this morning. Its cool and cloudy now.
-
Low of 13C in the greenhouse and 15C now, cloudy and it's been spitting on and off for the last half hour. We badly need rain, so wish it would just get on with it ::)
-
Chilly and drizzle. Could do with a good downpour for the ground but I suppose we have to take what we're given.
-
Bit drizzly here in our holiday cottage in Norfolk - enough to make planning a day out tricky, but not enough to do any good (there's a huge field of broad beans just down the road from here that look as if they could do with a drink.) More problematic weather on the way after tomorrow (sunny but cold - weird!)
-
Grey and drizzle here as well, it is supposed to brighten up later, just like yesterday ::)
I wish it would rain properly and be done with it, these drizzly bits just dry up as soon as the sun comes out.
-
Overcast and muggy but the forecast rain didn't show up again  It's oh so dry out there and nothing but 30 degree heat by the looks of next week
-
Dry and muggy. Bored of having to water the plot so much now.
-
Dry & very blustery
-
Much cooler this morning 14C and windy from NNE, more cloud than blue in the sky now. Rain on the way hopefully
-
We've had rain, not a lot but enough to keep things going. It's cool now but the forecast is for lots of sun and getting warmer until next week where it's scorchio! Fast moving clouds but light blue patches peeking out :)
-
Still dry, warm in the sun right up until a gust of wind hits and makes it feel like early March.
-
Down to 9C overnight, sunny and warming up fast (19C) now that horrible wind has gone 8)
-
Blue skies with some light wispy clouds and a little cooling breeze. Not had any decent rain for weeks and weeks so everything is very dry.
-
Bit chilly on our 2 hour cruise on the Wroxham Broads yesterday, but much warmer than forecast today in Sheringham and Cley. Been a good week - back to Sheffield tomorrow and a good deal of watering to do by all accounts, despite a friend's report that the automatic watering system seems to still be working for the GH and a few other outdoor plants.
-
It's turning into 1976 out there - solid sunshine all the way. If it goes on much longer I'll have to get the aircon fixed on the car, if that doesn't cause the weather to break then I don't know what will! :)
-
It hit 28 here today, 32 in Porthmadog which is just down the road from us. Everything is parched to say the least. I just popped out to the greenhouse - it's 11 pm and the vents are fully open as are the doors: it's 22 C in there!!
-
It's overcast and cooler here today so far. The last couple of days have been bakingly hot and sticky, so its nice to have a respite :)
-
We've not got any clouds here, but we do have a quite strong NE breeze taking the edge off the heat, 19C (but MetO says it 'feels like' 16C) I'll find out when I finish my coffee and venture round to the plot ;)
-
Like an oven with a cooling fan on! Tell you what though, the slugs and snails aren't having a go at my hostas et al so that's good!
-
33ºC in Porthmadog which is 15 miles from us, here it was a chilly 28ºC at 4pm yesterday! There's a 30% chance of an hour's light rain next Thursday. Even the BBC weatherman said it was Scorchio!
-
It's too darned hot!! Thankfully we get the sea breezes during the day which helps but there's no sign of rain on the horizon.
-
I'm dreading the hosepipe ban that we know can't be too far down the line
-
I'm dreading the hosepipe ban that we know can't be too far down the line
Already imposed on N Ireland. Hopefully we'll be OK in Wales - must have 122 years usage in stock :)
-
‘Twas cloudy at 6a.m but the sun is out with a few clouds now, quite a heavy wind rattled the blinds all night & slammed the bedroom door shut! Still windy but that should keep it bearable. Off to the plot soon to sow some seeds before it gets too hot again & I wilt.
-
Grey and cloudy this morning and the wind made it almost chilly but that was 4 hours ago. Now it' still, sunny and the temperature is climbing rapidly. Every time I check the forecast the rain gets a day later  :( nothing till next Sunday now. I know you can't get sunshine out of a pipe but shortly we wont be able to get water out of one either.
-
The 30% chance of an hour of light rain on Thursday has vanished and the long range forecast is wall to wall sunshine. After doing nothing but moan about the rain here for 8 years I suppose I should just smile. Be careful what you wish for.
-
After doing nothing but moan about the rain here for 8 years I suppose I should just smile. Be careful what you wish for.
Chuckle! Another lovely sunny day here again 20C and it wasn't as cool first thing as the wind is now from the East rather than NE 8)
-
Hot. No Rain.
Getting trigger finger from having to water so much.
-
Very humid and sticky here. It feels like we need a storm (and some rain would be nice) ::)
-
We decided to have a BBQ for a change - arranged it for 7pm start so we wouldn't be roasting ourselves and blow me down, it clouded over and got breezy - almost chilly (relatively) for a bit. Once we finished around 9pm the clouds went away and it warmed up again.
Gorgeous evening - clouds in a blue sky underlit with pinks - mind you the dawn was wonderful too. I gave up trying to sleep because I was too hot at 4am and watched it until just after 5am when I finally went to dreamland for a bit.
-
Quite a cooling breeze here today with a few wispy clouds but it's still jolly hot.
-
Here on the IOW well my garden it was 43 F, about 1 30 pm, just a tad warm,,
-
Bit fresher today, still blue sky, sunny and hot but not as oppressive as the last few days.
-
Mostly cloudy with sunny patches this morning, so feeling cool at only 17C :D
-
Mostly cloudy with sunny patches this morning, so feeling cool at only 17C :D
Luxury! It was 18ºC at 1am here :(
Met office reckons it's going to be around 20º today.. we shall see
-
A bit hazy here today, and the wind is not quite as ferocious as it has been. Mrs Bouquet
-
Forecast maximum of 23C here today. Hmm - it's already that and not much breeze either, so quite uncomfortable as far as I'm concerned.
Tomorrow is forecast 27C maximum but with a considerably stronger breeze, eventually from the NW - I guess what it will actually feel like will depend on whether you're catching the breeze or not... 8)
-
Hot. Again. No respite.
Sir, more rain please?
-
Snowdonia - hot and dry. I must be in the twilight zone.
-
It's fantastic - cloudy, cool at a mere 20º and a really pleasant change. No rain though...
Forecast to return to normal sunshine around lunch time :)
-
Cloudy but warm this morning, with very little breeze.
Twice the sky has darkened, I've heard thunder and there have been a few spits of rain, but never enough to even dampen the soil - most annoying ::) It's still rumbling around now.
-
Was a bit cooler this morning but by mid afternoon we had to come inside with our little granddaughter as it got very hot & muggy, starting to feel as if we might. Be getting thundery weather but I don’t know if it’s forcast
-
Im so excited - we're forecast light rain this evening :D Good job too as it's been horrible all day. Not just hot but humid and very little breeze.
-
Although sunny it has been a little cooler today, which is nice, and we actually have some very dark clouds coming this way. Hopefully they'll give us a nice downpour before they go on their way. Fingers crossed now ;)
-
We had some clouds this morning and hoped but no rain... Plague of horse flies though who drove me indoors in the end.
-
The rain didn't show up :( it's noticeably cooler today though. Grey sky, the occasional break for a bit of sun and a cool breeze. It feels more like British summer time ::)
-
A strange meteorological event has occured. There appears to some kind of liquid, perhaps water, decending from the sky.
-
Blue sky again here so far. I'm hoping a similar event here over the next couple of days. The forecast is saying we have a real chance of a shower, which will be our first rain for weeks.
-
Light cloud here and 16C, it seems weird that there is no sunshine
Supposedly a chance of a shower later, but the probability is < 10% so I'm not holding my breath ::)
-
We have Rain. Actually a very light drizzle, so light I didn't notice until I took Max out. ::) but I'll take it, much fresher as a result. They have forecast real rain for tomorrow, fingers crossed.
-

You show off!! All we're managing is cloud cover :(
-
A lot cooler today with light cloud cover. It will be hit and miss if we get any rain in the next couple of days.
-
We had a slight drizzle yesterday morning and we're expecting storms this afternoon :D
-
We've got light rain here - so far nearly half a millimetre but that's better than 0! I've been worried that we'll get a heavy downpour on rock hard ground which would just run off down the hill, hopefully this light drizzle will soften the ground enough to let the next rain soak in.
-
REAL rain :D
It's not long started but an hour or two of this will make the world of difference.
-
Yep same, bucketed it down for an hour here. More please!
-
Lots of showery clouds showing up on the rain radar yesterday, but only the odd drop until about 10pm yesterday, when it started raining quite heavily.
Having danced naked down my street in celebration I now find myself in a police cell  - hopefully they will accept my explanation that it is normal for orangutans to be unclothed because we only actually got 3.8mm and my watering duties will have to resume sooner rather than later. ::)
-
We managed steady rain for about an hour nothing like enough but it dampened things down so it's not a dust bowl anymore. Humid, cooler and cloudy this morning but very still.
-
Still no rain.
-
Well, we're back to hot and a bit humid, but a light cooling breeze is helpful.
-
It's hot hot hot again!
-
Hot here again, hopefully rain on Monday.
-
It's very odd, usually the forecast says something like 15º and we end up at 12 or 13 but recently it says 20 and we end up at 24 or 25! Desperately dry but there is a 50/50 chance of rain on Monday.
-
7am and 25 degrees inside on the north facing side of the house so I guess the rest-bite didn't last long. Yesterday turned into unpleasant heat around lunchtime despite a bit of a breeze picking up. Today is already too hot, too still and too humid and there's not a cloud about either  Looks like we'll be having another day of it at least. :(
-
Scorchio again ::) 26C and no breeze to help today.
-
22C already, humidity 57%, no breeze - at least I've not got to play a Wimbledon final match this afternoon! 8)
-
Nine weeks apparently without rain, I'm not wishing it on anyone because when it starts it may n ot stop. The schools break up this week so the weather will probably turn. :D
-
The met office reckon heavy rain is on the way and should arrive here around 3am. It's like waiting for Christmas! :) Now, shall I stay up to see or not? Decisions..
-
Still 25C in the bedroom this morning, despite having everything open all night - which has the added bonus of me spending the rest of the day killing moths and mozzies. I can't remember the last time it was cool enough for a decent nights sleep. :(
Very still, humid and cloudy this morning, headache weather.
-
We have rain :) i won't need to water, well the other half won't have to :lol:hard to handle the hose while on crutches .
-
Warm again but, like John, we're expecting rain later on. Really hope so as I'd like to make one more sowing of peas and get some green manure going too.
-
According to my super duper radio weather station we had 3.1 mm of rain but it looks wetter than that. The station reckons the temperature is ------ (it's a techno fail gadget)
-
Hammered down here from 08.00 to 10.00 !
First decent drop of rain since June 19th. :)
-
Hammered down here from 08.00 to 10.00 !
First decent drop of rain since June 19th. :)
Wonderful isn't it? We just had light rain and drizzle for most of the day so what came down soaked in. Now we need more but it doesn't seem to be in the forecast
-
We were promised ½" of rain today starting at 2pm, then 3pm, then 4pm , then 5pm - you get the picture. I think eventually there were 3 drops around 7pm. It's been horribly close all day and I've still got this morning headache despite taking enough painkillers to sedate an small elephant.
-
We got 10 minutes of rain at 5.45 pm. Shame we’d just sat down to our dinner.....outside😊
-
No rain overnight :( Overcast and cooler this morning, although the house is still 25 as there's no breeze at all. There's no rain in the 10 day forecast either anymore and I'm beginning to get concerned.
-
Tiny bit of a breeze here & a tad cooler, but blue skies & sunshine, so getting warmer again I think
-
There is a slight breeze abit cooler and its cloudy.
-
Yesterday was really odd, bright sunshine one minute and then so dark and threatening I had to put the lights on the next. It was all talk and no action though as there's still been no rain.
Cooler and cloudy this morning with a fresh breeze :) I wouldn't mind a few more days like this.
-
The same thing here Lardy, someone else must be getting all the rain :(
Rain should be for everyone! I demand equal rain ::)
-
Overcast and muggy, we had 5 minutes of rain and that's it.
-
Yesterday turned into headache weather around mid-morning , I think plot 1 problems must have pinched all the rain as we didn't get any here :( This morning has started much the same, cool grey and but still, I spoke too early yesterday :nowink: hopefully it will be fresher today.
I'm tempted to hang some washing out - that always makes it rain
-
I'm tempted to hang some washing out - that always makes it rain
Sky Weather have clearly read this, they've changed the forcast for tomorrow night to rain ;)
-
27 C here today and to dry it out a bit more a nice stiff breeze ! Mrs Bouquet
-
still not a drop of the wet stuff here. Watering the greenhouse twice a day and the patio p ots once. Hay fever not letting up either. There's one green spot on the lawn where Paul stands each evening and has a shower under the hose!
-
Fresher this morning, bit of a breeze, sunny but not hot - pottering weather. If the rain they have forecast for late this afternoon shows up it will make for a nice day.
-
I got up early to go for my morning 3000-4000 steps, so going for a walk before it rains, guess what i got up to late its raining oh boy do we need the rain,oh well i will just have to do steps inside this morning.
-
Overcast, light rain, 14º - the typical Welsh summer we know and love :)
I was hoping we'd get more rain than we are - the soil is so dry. All the last rain did for the fields was make the grass throw up flower stalks which aren't very nutritious for the animals.
-
Very gentle rain here as well.
Yesterday there were some horrible black clouds that just passed over - today we have very light grey cloud cover and rain! Weird - could do with rain all day, if we don't actually get a decent storm soon, as there are some later in the forecast.
BBC forecast this morning's light rain, MetO didn't
-
Lovely steady rain today with a couple of rolls of thunder.
-
According to the forecast we've got heavy rain.. well it's a bit damp and so far today we've had 5 mm. And Welsh Water has sent out the 'use less water' letters so even Wales is feeling the pinch. From what I gather this drought is all across Northern Europe.
-
Looks like John finally let some over the Beacons ::) we have rain ! Proper British, soak everything , wet smelling , water butt filling rain. I may well be soaking wet and rather chilly from standing in it but frankly I really don't care !
-
Our gentle rain finally stopped about 30 minutes ago. Not nearly enough but a good start...
Started again at 8pm :)
-

Started again at 8pm :)
Same here Mum! Good rain most of the day...
-
Between 1:50am and 2:30am we 1.7mm of rain!
That was 33 days without any rain here.
The last rain we had that my rain meter recorded was 15th/17th June of 0.2mm and 0.1mm. The last significant rainfall was on June 7th.
Noticed the rain has bought out the slugs slugs. Not seen hardly any of those for a good month in the veg garden.
Picked them up and now in the nematode bucket to brew. Was getting worried, as the bucket has been looking quite empty.
-
Rain radar looked very promising yesterday afternoon, but the really lively colours passed to the north and south of here, where we had the not-so-grand total of 3mm.
Forecast has tantalising hints of possible thunderstorms here and there later, but I reckon they're just trying to reduce the rate of drought-depression amongst gardeners, so I'm not holding my breath (or putting the watering cans away!)
-
We had rain starting around 9.30pm last night that pitter pattered on for a good while. Everything this morning has raindrops on it and the garden is loving it (and so am I) :D
-
We had 4mm over the course of yesterday and another 3.5mm at 3am so the soil is damp on top, but suspect it hasn't got down very far. Fingers crossed for a thunderstorm or 3 today :D
It's 21C and quite bright this morning although not much blue sky to see.
-
Horrible headache weather all day; hot, humid, still and very little sunshine. :(
-
We started off damp with a little drizzle and then thick fog descended. The afternoon was overcast and quite cool by recent standards - around 17/18º
I reckon we've had something like 15 mm of precipitation (could hardly call it rain!) but apart from the grass and surface of the soil it's not done a lot of good. Planted out some brassicas and the soil was bone dry about 4" below the surface. However, wet surface to the soil brings the slugs and snails out to slither to the seedlings.
-
Headache weather again already :( Im not sure how much rain we had in the end but it was dust dry again by dinner time yesterday.
-
Same here Lardman. Headache weather and the ground is dry again. I dug down a little yesterday in an empty bed and the soil is still moist 2-3 inches deep and none of my crops are complaining too much though.
-
I dug down a little yesterday in an empty bed and the soil is still moist 2-3 inches deep
It's so dry here you can't even dig a hole 3" deep !
Very still and 'airless' this morning, already too hot and bright sunshine - it has the feel of a very hot day in the making.
-
It's ....
-
Think the heat has got to my local online weather station, which is reporting an air temperature of 25C with a 'feels like' of 26C!
With no breeze and humidity of 61% it sure feels hot to me and it's only 10 o'clock!
-
Snowdonia living up to its reputation as the holiday capital of Wales.. lightest of light drizzle and thick fog with a liveable 18º temperature.
-
Snowdonia living up to its reputation as the holiday capital of Wales.. lightest of light drizzle and thick fog with a liveable 18º temperature.
I will happily swap you for hot, airless and sticky
-
Too hot and too dry. Haven't had a drop of rain for 3 weeks and even then it was only a drop.
-
Too darn hot, car was measuring 32c on a trip out & that was after it had been running awhile. Have retreated to tv room with all doors & windows shut & blinds closed
-
A good breeze now so all windows and front and back doors open - now comparatively cool indoors 8)
-
...lightest of light drizzle and thick fog with a liveable 18º temperature.
You can go off people you know ! :nowink:
I've just had to cook Mother Lard a full roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. :( I swear a word has not been invented for how unpleasant the kitchen was in full sun with 3 pans of boiling water on the hob.
It has clouded over now which has really ramped up the humidity making things worse. Cold shower, 2 paracetamol and then a lie down in a dark room is in order.
-
81f and 27f in the Sitting Room. A stiff breeze isn't actually helping, because it's a hot one. All it's doing is drying everything out even more. I have just got back from a hospital xray. Crikey, that car park was hot.
Stay cool guys 8) 8) Mrs Bouquet
-
Stay cool guys 8) 8) Mrs Bouquet
I'm always a cool dude :)
It's been this incredibly fine rain all day here - finer than the mist setting on my watering gun. Just enough to make it unpleasant after a few minutes but so far it's only brought 1.8mm of rain. That's just over 2 ½ pints per square yard. Still, it's more help than no rain at all.
-
I'm really fed up with this now. It's already too hot, clear blue sky there's a decent breeze but even that's hot. Imagine sitting in a sauna with a hair drier pointed at you. No surprise, the forecast for showers this afternoon has disappeared.
-
Overcast here first thing but still warm, although I did have to get up in the night to put the quilt back on as I was cold! Wall to wall sun again. Back from the plot at 10 as the heat was ramping up again, good job I went at 7
-
Scorchio 8)
50% chance of rain at 3pm....fingers crossed!
-

I'm with you, it's too much. Mercifully I'm off to Devon for a few days tomorrow and I've been told it's more bearable on the coast.
-
Despite looking promising (dark and brooding) from 3 yesterday, it was all mouth and no trousers and passed over without a drop of rain.
This morning is grey, overcast and very close. My thermometers tell me it currently 14 outside and 27 inside which feels about right >:( My external walls have no cavity and are now warm to the touch inside having been baked for so long, not a problem I've noticed before !
-
26C and no breeze to help. Scochio ::)
-
Very hot 28c here already. apart from the water, I'm not moaning - people pay good money to go away on holiday into these temperatures !! Mrs Bouquet
-
It's been a lovely day here - sunny and warm but not too hot, peaked around 22/23º - perfect weather to play on the plots. Tomorrow is set to be similar :)
This post sponsored by the N Wales Tourist Board "Not so much a holiday as an SAS survival course"
-
Already 32C at the local weather station, don't think I'll be doing much at all again today ::)
It's annoying to be kept inside by the heat, when it is lovely and sunny outside.
-
I never thought I'd be grateful for the cooler weather we tend to get here - normally I'm quite envious of the hot sunshine in the south and east.. not today though. Warm at 23º C and strong sunshine but not anything like the SE of the UK.
Possibly rain tomorrow .. hope so
-
So hot & sticky here, we’ve retreated inside with the doors shut again. Just checked the bbc weather app & it says thundery showers forcast in the next half hour until Sunday, I so hope it’s right.
-
The storm forecasts are very hit & miss, they usually miss with us ::)
Good luck for your garden/plot :)
-
Much cooler today and more 'comfortable' weather. Still don't like it though and we really do need some rain.
-
Sticky and close. Even now the local weather station thinks it's 27c with a "feels like" of 29c.
This weekends thunder storms have been changed to windy with scattered showers
-
We've gone from 80% chance of rain (thunderstorms) tomorrow night to 60% - I'm thinking that by tomorrow night there'll be zero chance ::) Why do they start with such certainty when the obviously aren't sure
-
Nope no rain here, it’s gone cloudy again but I don’t think we’ll get any.
-
Anyone remember the film "The Day the Earth Caught Fire"?
-
Unpleasantly hot, as it has been all night. Headline in this mornings paper -
Britain's prayers are answered, rain and hail fall across the country!
Not here it didn't ! it was still 27c in the bedroom at 4am this morning. Im not sure anymore if the constant headaches are the heat or lack of anything resembling restful sleep. :(
-
We got a sharp heavy downfall at about 10.15pm for a few minutes but it didn’t cool down & you can’t tell now that we had any
-
Very hot with a bit of breeze but it's just starting to cloud over, so the thunderstorms predicted for us this afternoon may be on the cards.
-
Anyone remember the film "The Day the Earth Caught Fire"?
No but I bet some 'bright spark' here will...
(I'll get my panama...)
-

My theory is that the aircon has broken down at Met Office HQ resulting in a bad tempered breakdown in communications between the 'Department of Issuing Mostly Unnecessary Yellow Warnings' and the 'Department of Occasionally Accurate Weather Forecasting.'
Can't think of any other explanation as to why there is a yellow warning for thunderstorms here from 1400 today to 0200 Saturday morning, yet no rain currently forecast during that period via the weather icons. ::)
Anyway, 2 rumbles and 3 drops of rain yesterday evening, total 0.2mm, no rumbles but 1.8mm of rain this morning.
I'd just like a decent steady downpour for at least an hour, with or without rumbles.
-
Rain tomorrow. How many days have we been told that for?!
Really fed up with working in these conditions. Not to mention the state of the dustbowl allotment!
-
It's cool by recent standards at 18º C and we've had 1.3 mm of rain so far with more promised. Hoping for slow and steady rain which will sink in rather than a downpour which will just run off down the hillside.
Some of the trees are showing signs of water stress, think I may lose some rowans although the goat willows are looking happy enough. Also got problems with the dry stone walls. As the soil contracts it moves and the walls can literally tumble down, especially the older and poorly built in the first place walls.
I don't have the knowledge or the strength to rebuild walls myself so just had a quote for the wall that runs beside the road.. £2500
-
Just found our Pagoda Bush in dire need of a drink...
S** the cost of ten minutes of a good hosing, we just love that chap!
-
After a really hot day 33C it has now cooled, clouded over and is getting quite gusty - storms are on their way :)
https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar
-
And we've got storms here too, big ploppy raindrops and thunder, due to continue over the week-end. I'm saying hip hip hurrah but I'm off to my great niece's wedding tomorrow.... what must they be feeling like!! The puppy - now 10 months old - has forgotten what rain feels like and is quite bewildered but not at all faized by the thunder.
-
Well we had big dark clouds yesterday evening & this morning woke to lovely rain before 6, don’t know how long for but it’s stopped now after a reallly heavy down pour, more forcast so we’ll see ☔️
-
We have rain :D more like a short sharp shower, certainly nothing like what was promised but welcome none the less.
There's a stiff breeze too this morning, but it's already sunny and warm, they have forecast rain from 11am to 8pn here today ... We'll see.
-
A couple of storms overnight and this morning there is rain on and off and warm, gusting winds, the latter not good for leaving greenhouse doors open ::) Had about 15mm of rain overnight, so hope it keeps raining for a while longer - much more needed to catch up!
-
We had rain over night, this morning we have wind and rain now its started it won't no when to stop, but we need it all the same, and i remembered to shut the green house doors last night, i am glad i did.
-
Sun is back out now after a welcome but hardly adequate 2.6mm of rain over the past few hours - more forecast for later.
Maximum temperature forecast to be 18C today - after 30+ over the past few days I might be digging out a woolly jumper! ::)
-
Yo! We've had a couple of overnight burst of rain and currently it's piddling down!
-
Yes, it's been persisting down up here too
-
The rain turned to sun by mid-morning, 21C now but the wind has got worse with some 35mph gusts.
-
Apparently it rained during the night. No rain today, but high winds, which have blown beans down, and geraniums out of their pots. Mrs Bouquet
-
Lovely, lovely downpours on & off all day, just unfortunate that I was out in one of them, but I didn’t mind a bit😁. Very blustery though too
-
Just got back from a short holiday in Devon, and got caught in the most glorious heavy downpour on the M5. My hopes that home had had some of the same were confirmed when I got to the plot tonight to see the ground saturated for the first time in months! More rain this evening, happy days!
I know full well by September I'll probably curse this post as we've no doubt endured 4 weeks of non-stop rain.
-
We've had 20mm of rain so far and it's set to carry on all day :) It's proper rain but not a downpour so sinking in rather than running off, which is what we need.
-
It's proper rain but not a downpour so sinking in rather than running off, which is what we need.
Same here today. Its been raining since early on - not sure how early, but it was before Foggy did his morning 'let me out please' crow and that is usually about 7am. Now its steadily raining and the ground is drinking it in.
-
its raining steadily here too! I was away yesterday but got a message from Mr goose that 2 of my outside tom plants in pots had blown over! he rescued them and hopefully no long term damage. i have just been out to reinforce them as it is forecasted to be windy today too.
im sure the blackbirds will be running around later trying to find worms as all they have had reently is a blunt beak!
-
It's been raining for about an hour here, the very fine kind that soaks you, but nothing registering on the rain gauges, yet. Wind gusting at 35mph as well!
-
We have rain and wind, been raining most of the night,it was battering the windows and keeping me awake, but still we need all the rain we can get,not as windy as yesterday.
I hope the sweetcorn has not blown down,it would be a big shame if i lost it now there are nice cobs growing.
-
The weather has gone all Welsh again.
Thought i was going to have to run naked from the shower i was having in order to keep the hail from beating up my competition onions.
No apparent damage so far ! :)
-
Very blustery here again & lovely to & lots of lovely rain, from heavy showers to a constant drizzle to constant heavy rain. Made picking at the plot a damp affair
-
It's teeming down today with a blustery wind that's blowing stuff all over the place.
-
It has been steadily raining here all day as well. Have developed a leak in our bedroom in the bay window! Bucket underneath now to catch drip. We had the lead redone about fifteen years ago and wonder whether in all the heat it has cracked and split again. Fortunately we know a couple of roofers who can get up there and have a look.
-
Lots of lovely rain all day, didn't mind getting wet picking tonight's dinner.
The soil is really responding too, an experimental prod with the hoe broke the surface a treat, lovely and crumbly already!
-
Now it’s started raining I think it’s forgotten how to stop! Lol still going strong this morning, but without the blustery wind. I’m sure the gardens are loving it
-
It actually feels chilly but it's near 20º so I think that's me after the hot weather. Seems strange to have a long sleeved shirt on again.
We've had enough rain that the grass is greening up and growing again but that means the mower will be back in use. At least that was one job that didn't need to be done when it was scorchio.
-
We had another good shower early this morning, so everything looks happy again :) WE have what I call a Spring sky - bright blue with clouds whizzing through. Needed a cardi on first thing though ::)
-
Pleasantly warm, but humid after all the rain. Had the Hutton period alert pop through from Blightwatch last night.
-
Not wall to wall sunshine today, which at 26.3C and 58% humidity right now is probably just as well.
Sun still strong - one of the intriguing (to me :tongue2:) dials displayed by my local weather station shows the sun's power in watts per square metre - 1080w/m2 earlier - if only you could store it up for winter!
-
Headache weather again :( 26c ish but feels more. There was a bit of a breeze earlier but now that's gone it's rather unpleasant.
-
A bit cloudy first thing but hot, hot, hot later on & particularly when I was dancing in the park with my granddaughter lol
-
Nudging around 29c. Very hot when we were trying to learn Line Dancing on Friday. (two left feet - no c-ordination that's me!) No sign of any rain just yet. Hope not, painting the railway sleepers with preservative tomorrow.
-
Todays weather is brought to you by the the letter H.
H is for Hot , Humid , Hay fever, Horrible and Headache.
-
Oh Lardman, you are not enjoying it are you ! I think its lovely. I hate the cold and dark. Mrs B
-
Another hot day here in the midlands, too hot after 11am for doing much garden wise
-
I thought there would be a few posts from our more southern and easterly members boasting about all the lovely rain they'd had today...
Not a drop here today, although we did get all of 0.6mm yesterday so mustn't be greedy! :tongue2: ;)
-
   I've just come here to do it :nowink:
The rain overnight didn't appear, but we did get 10.3mm (Wow so much! ::)) around midday and it has just started drizzling again. Storms are possible tomorrow and Sunday, I'll believe it when I see it!
-
I've had 3 maybe 4 drops and they all fell on the wheelie bin and quickly disappeared. Im leaving some washing out on the line all night just to encourage a downpour.
-
Same Lardman, a couple of drops to raise hopes and then nothing. Had to water the plot again tonight.
Temperatures seem to be plummeting tonight though compared to recently.
-
3 plans of action spring to mind:
1) Find out whether there are any reasonably priced properties near to Lardman who obviously lives in an especially moist area of the country.
2) Cross MoS off my winter solstice card list. ;)
3) Gurgle how to grow edible cacti.
-
It's been quite nice here for the last couple of days. There's enough water in the ground so the grass is growing which means the mower has to venture out :( but the sheep are happy as they've lots of grass to eat. :)
Bit nippy tonight and cooler tomorrow apparently but it's more like normal which is reassuring.
My long range prediction is for a cold winter as the hawthorns and rowans are loaded with berries.
-
Funny you should say that JayG, I was reading up about growing prickly pears at the weekend! No rain since long before the solstice, but lovely and fresh the last couple of days.
-
Mainly grey skies, with the odd patch of blue now and again - a chilly feeling 16C now, but it slipped to just under 10C just before dawn  That really did feel cold as the bathroom window was still open wide ::)
-
Two hours of constant drizzly rain, perfect.
-
Yesterday we had 13.5mm rain and a highest temp of 18.5C - last night's low was 8.3C Brrrr!
It's 12.5C now and clear blue sky - hope it warms up a bit soon ::)
-
Yesterday morning I saw a very promising band of rain heading towards Sheffield on the rain radar, so decided to get smart and go and cut one side of my 100' garden's hedge before it started.
Finished just as it just started spitting, sat down indoors to enjoy watching the rain. Didn't take long - 15 minutes of light rain (1.6mm in total.) :(
None since, but more forecast this evening, when I'm going to a friend's barbecue in nearby Matlock!
-
Steady drizzle yesterday afternoon but it's brought a huge drop in temperature. 7c this morning walking the dog, it was so cold I was actually glad to be back inside  certainly not t-shirt weather anymore.
Lots more forecast for today - I'll be passing the collection plate around later for a tumble dryer on account of everything still being soaking wet :nowink: .
-
Your fate tempting laundry worked a treat Lardman!
-
Cooler and fresher here as well and we have had some rain. More forecast overnight. Perhaps I will be able to pry spuds out of the plot soil soon
-
Perhaps I will be able to pry spuds out of the plot soil soon
Would be nice wouldn't it, get them out before the slugs finish them off all together!
It rained quite heavily most of yesterday, on top of what fell the day before - so here's hoping :)
-
My plan for yesterday was to cut the rest of the grass and harvest some potatoes. About 11am the heaven's opened and we got 6 mm of rain. The afternoon was sunny though but I was working :(
Today is overcast with heavy rain predicted later and overnight.
-
Rain most of the night - everything is well soaked. :D It's on the muggy side this morning and there's no breeze at all, the forecast is for light rain all day which is fine by me.
-
Not cold last night thank goodness, 17C :) Light cloud, 21C and breezy now, with 50% chance of showers later  Is this what MetO now says when it hasn't a clue? :nowink:
-
Wet yesterday, wet overnight and possibly wet part of the day today. Chilly mind after the hot weather.
-
Wet yesterday, wet overnight and possibly wet part of the day today. Chilly mind after the hot weather.
Same here plus thick fog...
Come back summer, all is forgiven!
-
Same here plus thick fog...
Come back summer, all is forgiven!
What do you mean John, That IS a Welsh Summer ! :nowink:
Muggy here, mainly cloudy with the odd bit of drizzle.
-
Yesterday was yet another which looked promising on the rain radar, but delivered absolutely nothing. :(
Seem to have missed out almost completely on the deluges which many have been reporting over the past week or so - a millimetre here and there but nothing of any consequence.
20C here at the moment and fine - no rain forecast today.
-
It was sunny and warm first thing, but now it has clouded over, so gone cooler again. It looks as if the rain forecast for after lunch, will be arriving earlier ::) It looks as if I'll soon have to start mowing again
Sorry JayG ::)

Close again today, overcast with very low cloud and still. Very much blight weather. Hopefully things will improve during the day.
Cripes Jayg - still not rain? Would you like to borrow my "weather tempting washing" it's guaranteed to bring on a downpour just as it dries out.

A very generous and indeed unusual offer Lardman! ;)
Not quite come to that yet - a wet night forecast here tonight, but that could easily change before we get there (or just not happen anyway.)
-
Rain and drizzle most of the night and it looks to be continuing this morning, still on the warm side though.
-
Drizzle earlier, but now proper steady rain is falling.
-
Good amount of rain overnight, drizzle on and off now. Hutton period warnings coming in thick and fast now though from Blightwatch.
-
0400 woke up to hear some steady rain falling :)
0600 woke up again to the sound of rain still falling :) :)
Got up at 0700, rain now stopped, checked the total on the local online weather station - 3.6mm. :nowink: :nowink:
-
Dull, overcast and later the clouds came down like a thick fog. It's drizzling now as well.
-
Dull and overcast here, the weathers pretty much like that too ::)
-
Cloudy and grey this morning but still warm, the wind has picked up dramatically over the last hour or so, I've had to shut the greenhouse doors just in case.
-
Sensible move, Lardman, flying greenhouses don't tend to land well as I sadly know.
-
flying greenhouses don't tend to land well as I sadly know.
I am too a veteran of a flying glass kite.
Today has been dull and close, it's threatened to rain a few times but chickened out in the end, my water butts are nearly empty again.
-
Not a lot of rain, couple of mm, but enough to make it too damp to enjoy being outside. Very grey as well and the clouds descended a couple of times like a thick fog.
AND I think the outdoor toms may be starting with blight :( :( :(
-
It's been warm and humid all day, a few times the sky went black and I though oh here comes the rain - but nothing, it all blew over.
-
Showers on & off all morning, then lovely sun for a while until I was well ensconced at the Lottie, then a huge downpour,so off home to get the washing in & get showered, then it brightened up again🙄
-
Very warm today at 23C already - despite several hopeful signs no rain since the magnificent 3.6mm on the 15th. :(
-
Grey, drizzling and 15º :(
I can see me digging spuds up in the rain at this rate - supposed to be heavy rain tomorrow.
What we need is a huge umbrella over N Wales with a collection system and a big pipe to Sheffield :)
-
What we need is a huge umbrella over N Wales with a collection system and a big pipe to Sheffield :)
The way my luck has been over the past few days with hosepipe fittings I don't think much of the water would make it even half way here! ::)
-
Early this morning it was very cloudy and humid, like a storm was on the way. Met office agreed and forecast rain from lunchtime - a joke right? No rain and brilliant sunshine from about 11.30am. I note they've now changed the rest of todays forecast to match what I can see through the window
They're also saying it will be nice tomorrow morning as well, there doesn't seem now, to be any sign of the cold weather that they've been waffling on about for the rest of the week, either.
-
12C, blustery showers - bit of a shock to the system (might start whingeing about the low temperatures rather than the lack of rain, although we've still not had much of that here yet...)
-
Cold and wet, hurray!
-
Feeling really chilly this morning @ only 7.5C - quite a shock to the system. Long sleeves and a cardi on
-
We were a bit better off at 10º at 7am and it's now around 15º. Overcast and breezy but (touch wood) not raining so some spuds are coming up. It appears Autumn is early! We had to put the heating on a week ago - only a few hours a day to take the chill off but I was hoping to get through at least the first half of September. We heat with LPG and it is expensive.
When we had the heatwave we were getting 18/19 Kwh a day from the solar panels but that has plummeted to less than 8 now which shows the difference. Even taking shorter days into account, the solar energy has halved.
-
After expecting a lot of showers yesterday which resulted in the occasional light one, today has been lovely and sunny but tomorrow is another day!
-
Just brightening up a little after a cold and wet day - 13C max and nearly half an inch of rain (more than in the past 3 months combined.)
Finally lost the battle to keep my hands off the heating controls - just the gas fire in the living room for now...
-
Finally lost the battle to keep my hands off the heating controls - just the gas fire in the living room for now...
Not only the heating here - the thermal vest has come out of hiding!
-
A rather chilly & a very soggy day, only brightening after 7pm.
-
My inner miser was outraged to find that someone had adjusted the thermostat and the heating was on.
In August.
Secretly grateful though, as I was soaked through from a downpour, but don't tell the wife that ;)
-
Strangely enough it is now at 18C the warmest it has been all day and it rained heavily from mid-morning, giving us 14mm.
-
Started raining at 07.00 yesterday and finally stopped around 16.30 and showed a total of 53mm.
Not pleasant!
-
Still cloudy but no rain or breeze and warmer than the same time yesterday at 16C.
-
Cool and cloudy with a strong breeze and some spells of heavy showery rain.
-
Dull & cloudy with occasional sprinkles of rain, quite cool until the sun made an appearance while we were taking a breather on the patio.
-
Yesterday evening I checked the forecast and thought I'd finally be putting my leeks in (yes I know they're late ::)) get up this morning and it's persisting down :(
Of course now the forecast tells me it will be raining until about 3pm - did they wait for the weather to arrive, before they altered the forecast at 7am. I can understand that it is difficult to forecast more than a day or two ahead - but they can't even get the next morning right
* Sigh grumble grumble*
That's my Victor Meldrew moment for today done with
-
Grey and damp here this morning - not what was promised last night by the forecast. I think it might be time they ditched the super computers and got themselves some seaweed and pine cones! :)
-
Yep, a lot cooler today than forecast and I notice the weekend's forecast tempratures have been revised downwards. MY only concern is that night time temps are getting lower and I've got a ton of tomatoes and chillies still to ripen.
-
absolutely glorious day. warm sunshine after a coldish start
-
Blinking raining... yesterday was nice so got some painting done thinking to cut the grass today.. that's another plan down the drain
-
We had some rain yesterday, but it's bright and sunny this morning. A cool start, as down to 9C overnight, but 20C now with very little breeze 8)
-
Piddling down! If you need rain just put your washing out to dry.
-
Piddling down! If you need rain just put your washing out to dry.
Or move to Snowdonia...
-
Not too bad at all, this morning, as long as you were out of the breeze ::) It's a bit cooler this afternoon as it's cloudier now.
-
Dull & overcast same as yesterday, might get a few showers the same too.
-
Cold morning, soon warmed up though!
-
We have March weather - alternately cloudy and sunny, blowing a hoolie, with rain in the forecast
-
Windy and drizzling. Noticed last night that it's getting dark before 8 now, so no night time excursions to the plot now.
-
Overcast and breezy here, but mild. There is rain in our forecast as well and you can feel its on its way.
-
Supposed to be raining here but it's actually turning out nice :)
-
I've just mowed everywhere - smug me?
;0)
-
Depends whether you prefer mowing nice green grass to not having to mow at all due to the drought.
Overnight rain forecast tonight, as it was today - we shall see...
-
The sun is out and we have picture postcard blue sky, but it is chilly. The grass is covered in dew and I could see my breath when I let the chickens out earlier
It is warming up now, but I think I will leave it a while longer before I venture to the plot.
-
Overnight low of 8C in the greenhouse, but beginning to warm up now 13C. Just a few clouds about and a very light breeze, not bad at all :)
-
Not cold but wet and very windy - especially as the yellow wind warning isn't until Monday. Just checked the greenhouse is fully secured so nothing more I can do.
-
+10C overnight in the greenhouse, so a warmer start to the day. Lovely blue sky and no fluffy bits, so far :D
-
beautiful - a bit breezy, blue sky, no clouds, and very pleasant. Mrs Bouquet
-
Damp, drizzle, rain - repeat. Windy and getting worse. We've a yellow warning here from the Met office about the wind.
-
Tried to rain earlier, didn't succeed - a mainly sunny and very pleasant 19C at the moment, albeit a little breezy.
-
It's not been good here - wet and windy with the winds set to get serious tomorrow.
-
Bit of a wind but it's actually quite warm out tonight, around 15/16c right now.
-
Warmer out than in most of the day and a stiff breeze to go with it, the odd shower has left the washing feeling damp though. Looking at the forecast I'm not sure if I should be more concerned about tomorrows wind or Thursdays 1.5" of rain
-
We seem to be escaping the worst of the gales and had occasional sunshine but let's see what happens when it rains tomorrow!
-
Our winds peaked at 70mph. Seems to be easing a little now... mid 60's. We have escaped damage so far with only small branches down off the trees (stuff that is about three feet long and an inch thick). It will be a real mess to clean up tomorrow.
-
Unusually windy but really warm still. The wall between my yard and next doors, which I have been trying to get someone to fix for months, has partially fallen down.
-
It was quite nice earlier but it's going downhill now - heavy rain due by lunchtime which we could do without
-
Still no rain here, but got the wind :D Mrs Bouquet
-
Well we certainly have got the rain here - can't remember the last time it rained for more than about 10 minutes (been at it since about noon.)
Look at the current rain rate (mm per hour!)
-
Still no rain here, but got the wind :D Mrs Bouquet
No rain here either and nothing like other places, but it is windy with a few nasty gusts - but so far the wheelie bins haven't moved :D
-
Look at the current rain rate (mm per hour!)
That's rather a flash system! Care to tell us about it?
-
Look at the current rain rate (mm per hour!)
That's rather a flash system! Care to tell us about it?
Alas, not something you can pick up for a few quid at your local Liddel. :(
It's a privately owned online weather station that just happens to be in someone's back garden a mere few hundred yards from where I live:
Live Weather (http://www.sheffieldweather.co.uk/live_weather.htm)
Yesterday's total finished up at 67mm, which isn't far off 3 inches (glad it wasn't me whingeing about the drought in Sheffield!)
Another 4.6mm since midnight, and distinctly chilly at 7.6C.
-
It feels quite cool this morning 13C and still blowy.
We did have some rain overnight, but nowhere near as much as was forecast, as there were no full pot saucers to empty this morning, but I'm grateful for small mercies :D
-
Summer's certainly over until next year. Stiff breeze, steady rain and 8C
-
Still very windy, but no rain. Been out gardening in shorts and Tshirt, so not too cold either.
-
Blowing a gale, rain lashing down, then a short bit of sun before it all starts again.
-
Windy and actually cold, had to dig to warm up. Cleared the birthday hangover a treat!
-
We had about 50mm of rain in the 24 hours to lunchtime yesterday.
We had plans to strim some vacant plots this afternoon, which went by the wayside .. !
And it's chilly!
-
At last it started to rain about 1 ish. Good steady rain, no wind. it seems colder but the heating hasn't clicked on. Mrs Bouquet
-
Yes, we also have rain and feeling cold @ 12C, my heating HAS clicked on *sigh*
-
My heating has clicked on now :( Mrs Bouquet
-
Child has worked out how to use the thermostat. Battle is now drawn and I shall triumph.
Cold and wet out, need to get any digging done pretty soon before the soil is waterlogged.
-
Rain all last night and this morning until 12 ish with a strong north wind. Now the sun is out and the sky is blue and everything looks much fresher. Mrs Bouquet
-
A chilly day especially in the wind with quite heavy but short showers.
-
Grey, chilly and relatively dry. Winds have died down a bit.
-
Glorious sunshine and blue sky. Breezy and a bit chilly. A fantastic sunset last night. Mrs Bouquet
-
Down to 3.9C in the greenhouse last night  but sunny and breezy now 15C.
Forecast shows more cold nights to come this week, so think I'd better fetch all my squash home now ...
-
Cold night for us too, 5.6 in the polytunnel last night. Warm in the sun today though.
-
Our tunnel dropped to around 5 which is lower than I guessed it would. Hovered around 10 today but pleasant in the sunshine.
-
First frost this morning! Not just the workshop roof (that was yesterday) but the field next door is white, the van screen needed scraping clear .... Brr! And the neighbour who works from his 'shed' has lit the wood burner for the first time this winter. Have to go and see how the allotment fared later. It is only a week or so ago that we were wearing shorts!
-
Frost this morning, must have been a slight one the night before cos some of the dahlias had a few blackened leaves yesterday :( Good job I brought all the flowers home before they were spoilt.
Down to 3C in the greenhouse last night, only 6C now, bright blue sky so hope it warms up a bit :)
-
Dropped to 2c in the polytunnel last night, but it was up to 38c when I arrived to open the doors late in the morning. The winter caulis in there were having a sulk!
-
All is still good here. Lovely day, and no frost last night. Mrs Bouquet
-
Only dropped to 5 last night, so not as cold this morning, it is bright sunny and 12C :)
-
Bright and sunny, no clouds and a mild breeze. Mrs Bouquet
-
A damp day but not too cold - around 14ºC. Very grey and overcast.
-
Nice sunny but chilly weather - but it would be good if we could have some rain - it's still desert conditions outside.
-
Not quite as chilly overnight, no lower than 10C, but a grey/miserable start to the day 13C now.
With no sun in the forecast, not likely to be much warmer later on.
-
Only 8.5C but clear blue sky - going to heave the overgrown water lily out of my pond today for a severe talking to before the water gets too cold!
-
Cold in the morning, warm in the day. Dry though, may end up with the hosepipe out this weekend.
-
4C at 7.30 this morning. Heating kicked in at 4 o'clock.
-
Field and roofs white this morning. Beautiful blue sky and sunshine now!
-
Glorious, clear blue sky, gentle breeze, t shirt and shorts still, no CH yet. Mrs Bouquet
-
A rather overcast cold and breezy day here. Good job the fire's lit.
-
Cold, wet, windy :(
Not a nice day at all
-
Yesterday was cloudy, windy and thoroughly chilly, but today is lovely! The wind has dropped, the sky is blue. To look at through the window, you would reach for shorts .... ::)
-
Yesterday was cloudy, windy and thoroughly chilly, but today is lovely! The wind has dropped, the sky is blue. To look at through the window, you would reach for shorts .... ::)
Snap!
I was working in the greenhouse earlier, and it would have been warm enough for them ;)
The sun went in and the Northerly breeze picked up about an hour ago and now it is suddenly feels really chilly. Heating on indoors, so the thermostat agrees with me
-
Not quite as chilly overnight, no lower than 10C, but a grey/miserable start to the day - still, s'posed to be sunny spells later :D
-
Yup. Supposed to be dry, so actually a good day for painting the porch outside. Silver linings eh?
-
Cool and overcast. Does of man flu encouraging me to not go to the plot today.
-
Been sitting on the sea front (along with everybody else) . Blue sky, no clouds, and forecast for a mild night.
Do feel a bit red, forgot sunscreen. ::)
-
Steady rain all night and all morning - although we needed some rain it's good to share so I've sent if off down towards the SE now (along with much lower temperatures - only 7C here at the moment. :()
-
Plenty of rain, much needed as I need it to help germinate the green manures.
-
although we needed some rain it's good to share so I've sent if off down towards the SE now
Thanks for the thought, It's not got here yet and although we have grey skies it is still 15C atm.
Rain is s'posed to start at about 4pm and the forecast for tonight says remaining windy near Kent coasts. Minimum temperature 1 °C.
Might go back to the plot this afternoon to pick the last dahlia flowers before they get blackened ::)
-
Cannot believe it after yesterday - lashing rain, and windy, the heating has just come on, its set at 17.
So the weather forecast was right. ???
-
Lovely sunny day here, fair bit of wind, but chilly out of the sun, so I got my folding chair out at the Lottie & moved into the sun when it was time for a cuppa
-
Its a bit overcast, and quite windy, the sun came out for a little while, but its gone in now. CH, only comes on briefly in the morning (temp set at 17 C). Still got shorts on. :D Mrs B
-
Yesterday it was sunny and around 23º here - very windy but a warm wind. Surreal weather for mid-October. Today is gusty, raining on and off and just 11º
Super heavy rain coming according to the Met Office. :(
-
Windy, rainy and generally rubbish. No plot work for me today I'm guessing.
-
Right old storm going on - wish I'd joined the cats and stayed in bed!
-
Overcast, occasional showers ,and very windy!
-
Very windy with heavy squalls of rain. :(
-
Very blustery
-
We've had a sunny, mild, breezy day, with some strong gusts that have rattled the fences and the greenhouses - but nothing compared with some other unlucky parts of the country, so mustn't complain ;)
-
Almost as windy as me after last night's particularly hot Chilli :D
-
::) :nowink:
-
Lots of lovely rain, that’s shelved the plan to visit Harlow Carr & the alpine show to buy plants😥 might have to resort to the ironing ☹️
-
At this precise moment.....it’s hammering it down not for the first time today.
-
Been raining quite heavily since 0700 this morning - half an inch so far and doesn't look like easing for at least an hour or so.
At only 9C it's a bit of a shock to the system after yesterday's 23C sunny afternoon.
-
Despite the forecast of rain this morning it was bright and warm, t-shirt weather, so managed an hour and a bit at the allotment :D
It has slowly got cooler, then darker and darker this afternoon until I've had to switch the light on. Looks like we may get some rain later, instead then ::)
-
57mm of rain in the last 48 hours with very strong winds yesterday. The last of the rain passed through about 2pm and we now have a sunny, still evening.
Went for a walk through the fields with the idea of checking out the sloes, only to find that somebody had beaten us to it!
Too slow for the sloes!!
-
I reckon we had about 150mm of rain over the last 3 days but none today. Cold though and everywhere is pretty soggy.
-
I was seriously considering a duvet day today, it's foul out there. Cold, windy, dark and wet.
-
Grey, wet & miserable looking. I’ve done the ironing so might have to start on the cleaning 😱 or maybe a spot of retail therapy as my lunch date cancelled 😂.
-
Grey and miserable here, as well, but still incredibly mild 18C.
Despite all the warnings we only had a total of 1.3mm of rain yesterday and overnight :( with only a 5-10% chance of any today. We badly need enough to refill the Aquifers, they're getting low now.
-
Sunny with blue sky! 8º though.
-
Mizzly wet and 'orrible. The really annoying bit is that Accuweather keeps telling me it is sunny!!!
-
Cold and wet, got soaked earlier. Not got many jobs to do on the plot though so it's not too much of a hassle.
-
Lovely day here today - cold but nice in the sunshine which we had quite a lot of.
-
Cold, cold enough for my heating to turn on  that's 10c in the hall. Good deal of mist outside and things feel still and quiet. I rather like days like this. ::)
-
There's been a light ground frost the last couple of mornings. Yesterday was a gardening free day - today we'll see if the chickweed has keeled over on the plots (nah - not a chance, will need more than a couple of cool early mornings).
-
I suspect we had a touch of frost last night and it's certainly cold out this morning.
-
Grey misty and only10C so far :( It had to happen sooner or later, I suppose..
MetO still forecasting a couple of hours of sun and 15C for later on, though. So I may just manage a coffee in the greenhouse later, it makes such a difference to my mood if I can do that ;)
-
Misty cold morning turned into a lovely sunny day, warm in thme sun but rather cool in the shade.
-
Yesterday wasn't bad, cloudy but it kept dry for the most part. Today it rained and drizzled until late afternoon.
-
Very foggy first thing, but cleared to another decent day. Bit of drizzly rain at tea time.
-
7C in the greenhouse overnight, but that's sheltered from the North wind, away from the hedge the wind feels really cold Brr!
The forecast is for a max 12C, despite the bright sunshine - I suspect yesterday may have been the last really warm day of this year, I'm glad I spent it outdoors :)
-
It was 6C overnight in the greenhouse but by 9am it had dropped to 4C in the cold North wind Brrr!
Wind eased off a bit and by lunchtime it was 13C with the occasional glimpse of sunlight, before it started to get cooler again :(
-
Same here Mum, only took my coat off when I was turning the compost heap.
-
Only a slight breeze from the West so 7C overnight, 10C now with thin high cloud - better than I was expecting from the forecasts last night ::)
-
Bit windy, quite cold at 6º and the rain is coming in. Inside work today.
-
3.1C, with a 'feels like' of -2.3C in the brisk breeze coming straight from the North Pole.
A few showers, with not surprisingly a hint of sleet in them.
No gardening today! :nowink:
-
Well, the shorts are in the wardrobe for the winter and breaking out the 'hairy shirts'.
Sunny, clear and cold in North Wiltshire.
Cheers, Tony.
-
'Feels Like 4.9 °C ' according to the local weather station, thanks to that N wind Brr! If I just look out of the window - it looks lovely, blue sky and sun, but I'm not fooled that easily
-
Cold and wet. Good job the winter beard has grown sufficiently :)
-
It's starting to feel like October now.
The whole month has been ridiculously warm, but we're in single figures now.
It rained lightly yesterday but only for about an hour.
Today is lovely and sunny but cold
-
Despite thermal's - it's pretty cold. Cutting wind. But it's dry now :)
-
Very cold today & then turned to rain that had sleet in it brrr
-
4C overnight in the greenhouse and 8.5C now and had 10mm of rain in the early hours.
Bright and sunny with a cold NE breeze now, so looks nice but doesn't feel it ::)
-
Early hard frost with overnight low of -2C. Beautiful sunny but cold morning now with hardly any breeze.
-
6C overnight and 8C now, drizzly and grey again. Although we do need the rain, couldn't we get a decent downpour and be done with it for a few days, rather than 1mm here and there....
-
Down to 2C overnight in the greenhouse and 5C now, clear sky so may warm up a bit later as there's no wind at present *fingers crossed*
-
Things have warmed up considerably here. Over 8ºC now. But it's drizzling :(
Yesterday was bitter cold but lovely bright sunshine ..
-
Woke up to a second day of morning frosts. Pleasant in the sunshine today, sadly I'm stuck at my computer for most of the day.
-
A much warmer night, but steady rain from about 6.30am. and looks set for the day :( Gloomy out there, but it means the c/h is barely on ;)
-
Patchy cloud so classic sunny spells here - looks lovely down by the coast which is glowing in the sunlight. Cold now (5ºC) but hopefully it will warm up a bit. Still a bit damp though, puddles on the patio.
-
It dipped just under 2C last night and only 4C now Brr. On the plus side it's nice and sunny, so hope it warms up a bit more for some mudlarking on the plot :)
-
It's sunny and around 10ºC here, light breezes. And I've been stuck on the PC since 9am :(
-
Good frost last night but nice and warm in the sunshine now.
-
don't know the temperature, but lovely and bright, no clouds. I suspect that may mean cold and chilly later !
-
Zero overnight, grey and 8C now, and forecast to stay about the same. There's a strong breeze, so not very nice at all. Mollycat wanted to go out, but changed her mind on the doorstep, can't say I blame her ;)
-
Around 11º C but raining and windy, gusts over 50 mph. Indoor work today, I think.
-
Warmer overnight with a low of 7C and 12C now, grey skies with some sunny breaks and very little breeze :)
-
A little warmer here - around 12ºC - and not windy which is great. Odd showers and very damp. Yesterday was horrible. Horizontal rain in the wind and lots of it, about 40 mm. Kept the hens under cover in the secure run all day. Did give them some greens to eat, mainly chickweed which they love.
-
9C overnight and 13C already, but grey skies that look like rain is on the way. The soil gets easier to loosen after each rainy day we have :)
-
12C+ overnight and 15C now, feeling really mild, but it's a grey and misty morning, a few gaps in the cloud forecast- so a few outside jobs for me later ;)
-
12C+ overnight and 15C now, feeling really mild,
Similar temperatures again but today it's raining, sometimes heavily, with a very gusty wind from the S/SE, howling down the chimney!
-
Mild but mostly persisting it down.
-
Mild but mostly persisting it down.
ditto :(
-
The forecast 'heavy band of rain' this morning lasted for an hour and delivered 4mm.
The 'showers likely later' has so far turned out to have lasted continuously for 2 hours and delivered a further 12 mm!
If you call 9.8C mild, then it's mild, although it was 13C late this morning.
Oh well, bit late in the year to benefit the garden but I know the rivers, reservoirs and aquifers round here need it.
-
Lots of rain in first half of the night, but when that cleared it dropped down to 4C. Bright and sunny 12C now :) I hope it stays like that so I can go mudlarking :)
-
Very windy, very wet and a thoroughly miserable day. Tomorrow doesn't look much better :(
-
A few showers here and there and a little chilly. Forcast for tomorrow night is heavy rain though, perfect for the nipper's school fireworks night. Which I'm a volunteer for.
At least we get to go down the pub after :D
-
A milder night at 8C, it's 10C now grey and calm, forecast is for a windy day though, so I've left the greenhouses shut up for now.
-
Rain Rain and more rain. I've got one job left to do on the plot before closing it down for the winter, and the rain has turned it into a bog!!
Cheers
Aled
-
We're getting hammered hard in the west of the UK. It's dry at the moment but judging by the black sky and Met Office the rain will be pouring again soon. About 10º C but feels colder in the wind which is getting pretty gusty also.
-
Lots of flooding here .
Rain was torrential yesterday and blowing a gale.
The wind is howling now , if the rain forecast comes again many more properties will flood. :(
-
Oh boy! It is horrible out there. Strong winds and horizontal rain. Dark already (at 4.45pm) - Got reminded I'd promised to bring some parsley in.. I should have claimed a giant slug had eaten it all :)
-
Rain, wind, fireworks, hard labour, alcohol.
-
Rain, wind, fireworks, hard labour, alcohol.
Never rains alcohol here :( :( :(

Rain, wind, fireworks, hard labour, alcohol.
Never rains alcohol here :( :( :(
Just imagine !

Something like this?

-
After the wind got up, the lightening flashed and the thunder crashed whilst the rain and hail rattled on the roof, I decided I may as well get back up and have a drink. 3.30am
This morning I discovered the wind had blown some step ladders into the greenhouse breaking a pane into a million bits. Oh the joys of living up the hill.
-
Absolutely pouring sideways rain, and very windy. Mrs B
-
More rain overnight and still showers on and off this morning, mild at 13C. I may be imagining it  but the sky is beginning to look a little lighter :)

The ground is wet but we've actually got blue between the clouds and sunny spells. Around 10ºC Light wind too :)
We've had, I reckon, near 150 mm or 6 ins in real money of rain over the last week.
-
Bright and breezy, quite mild in all.
-
It's been persisting down all night a total of 14mm, I think that's enough for now thank you ::)
Back yard is a big puddle as is most of the footpath at the front...
-
1:30 am - sitting reading a book on the PC when the power goes off. Groping around for a torch when a massive boom of thunder. 4.00 am - roar and rattle of hail in volume.
Breezy, about 10ºC and some heavy clouds around. Met Office reckons rain later today but still predicting a nice day tomorrow.
-
Cool and calm again. Even got out onto the balconies to touch up a bit of the gloss work on the windows.
-
Fresh paint in November? That may be tempting fate... like saying "Hey, it's lovely outside, let's have a barbecue!"

Ha yes! It was only a touch up where I'd had to use a bit of filler.
-
Yesterday started nicely but the afternoon was broken with heavy showers that turned into more persistent rain accompanied by strong winds. More or less the same for today (Wednesday) but the Met Office is promising sunshine tomorrow although windy and cold. Fingers crossed!
-
Another mild night, min of 11C, but the sky is grey and it feels heavy IYKWIM. Forecast: temp to stay the same all day with a 10% chance of rain. Boring :nowink:
-
Sunny! 10º and breezy but sunny!
-
Sunny cool and a gentle breeze!
No rain predicted for a few days too.
-
Second day of clag and mild temperatures with vary little between day and night. The weekend looks to be a lot sunnier, with temperatures dropping.
-
Its been grey and misty and felt very damp. That makes me blue :nowink:
-
Well it's been lovely here. Blue sky, sunshine, little wind and not too cold.
They're promising a lovely weekend too and strangely there's no rain at all predicted for 5 days - although that will most likely change.
-
Its been grey and misty and felt very damp. That makes me blue :nowink:
Same weather here, and same mood *sigh*
-
It's looking like another nice day here in the west. Quite cold at 8ºC but that should warm up as the sun gets higher in the sky. Little wind so little wind chill. An amazing sky.
-
Chilly and bright, perfect for a walk in the Malvern hills :)
-
Down just below 2C last night but 11C now in the sun :)
It's 24C in the greenhouse which is very nice  Guess where I drank my morning coffee 8)
-
After an unseasonably warm and dey October, november has now hit home.
It's so cold today, weather app says 5°.
And it's raining - really cold and heavy rain.
I need to go home (I'm on the plot) but I cycled today and it's too wet to cycle home!
Not only that, but I discovered my daughter has nicked my bike lights to use as a torch so I don't have any lights!
-

Sounds like you could be stuck in the shed for quite some time....
Cold, breezy, grey and the odd spots of rain. Could be worse.
-
It was 5C overnight but now down to 3C, with thick cloud and drizzle - really not nice at all ::)
Forecast is for some sleet in with the rain today :(
-
A comparatively balmy 4C ::) with a 'feels like' of -1.2C.
Frequent blustery showers with some sleet in them. :(
Can't say we don't need the rain though:

-
Brass monkeys out. Horrible drizzly rain at times too.
-
Dull and a bit chilly. Was raining quite hard, but stopped now, feels very damp though. Mrs Bouquet
-
It's been a nice weekend, cold but lots of sunshine - Monday looks to be pretty decent too but then the gales are coming in. Predicting 60 mph gusts which probably means 80 mph here.
-
The gales are here - cold, wet and windy.. very windy. So far everything's surviving - the greenhouse being the main worry. Not much I can do now apart from keeping my fingers crossed.
Lovely as it is here, it's days like this I wish we'd moved somewhere more sheltered.. like Hampshire :)
-
Here it is still and it feels like we are in the cloud base. Brr.... Damp. Dull. Dismal. Depressing.
-
Cold and raining. No plot visits for the next couple of days.
-
The fog is finally lifting and there are a few breaks in the cloud. It's 9C and completely calm right now, don't suppose that will last much longer ::)
-
The thick fog lifted early on, it turned grey, drear and cold. I went to catch the bus back from the dentist in town up hill. The rain came and the bus didn't so it was a steady half hour walk home.

That's really not good enough (the bus not arriving) - hope you didn't catch a chill.
-
Lots of rain overnight, still thick cloud so maybe more to come, at least the wind has dropped and it is a mild13C.
-
The second storm wave came in overnight - wind really howling and raining but it's relatively warm at 10 / 11ºC .
-
Wind has finally picked up here, a few miserable rain showers too. As observed from my desk next to the radiator.
-
After a rather windy night I had to go into Morecambe this morning for a dentist appointment :( and it absolutely lashed it down just as I came out. >:( All has now calmed down and everything is still where it was yesterday. I don't envy anyone in Scotland though! ???
-
Wet and windy this morning, considerably quieter and drier this afternoon.
Took this picture two days ago which shows how low the water levels are in the Derwent reservoirs about 10 miles from Sheffield (you can see the remains of Derwent, one of the two villages flooded when the dams were built, and yes, there really are some complete nutters out there in the mud and rain amongst the ruins. :nowink:)
-
We've plenty of water.. how much would you like to buy? :)
Seriously, it's odd - we've had more than enough rain in the west. It's concerning how things are going.
-
I suppose we all knew we would get a lot of rain to make up for the lack of it in the summer, but why does it all come at once?
British weather is so Topsy-turvy and why we're always talking about it ::)
We had rain through the night, but it's dry, calm and 7C now.
-
Sun, winds, and scattered showers are on today's weather menu and it doesn't look any better for us in the next few days.
-
It's not stopped all day, drizzle fortunately, not the hard stuff. We're nice and cosy here in the front room and it can do what it likes outside!
-
Today has been a bit sunny and a bit drizzly, and a bit blowy sometimes. But the sunset has just gone and it was stunning, promises well for tomorrow
-
Hoping for a decent Tuesday - as the Met Office is promising. Quite a long list of jobs and the weather after tomorrow is looking pretty grim
-
It's been a truly wet week and the washing up bowl that acts as a water measuring item was full yesterday when it didn't rain for a change. This morning there's a frost inches deep outside.
-
Freezing this morning and I've not risked venturing out since!
-
A big 0C in the greenhouse overnight, and frost not long gone, cos my garden is very shaded in winter Brr!
-
Overnight low of -5C. Still only 1C at 11 when I went out. Now dry and misty at 5C. Long winter awaits ;)
-
Rain overnight which kept us mild 6C, 11C now but still raining and I have to go into town ::)
-
4.5C, wet, and dark - seems to have taken my indoor weather station by surprise as it's still forecasting unbroken sunshine!
-
Mild and wet all night, 13C now, but with a really gusty wind howling down the chimneys. An indoor day, that's for sure ::)
-
Decidedly moist.
-
We had 2 days of pea souper fog and drizzle followed today by a fair day but with vicious wind. It was about 8º in shelter and -60 in the wind
-
I've been stuck indoors for days with a virus and then tonsillitis, but the rain has been lashing against the windows this afternoon, it's nice to be warm and dry on such a day!
-
Cold and getting very windy tonight.
-

Hope you're feeling better soon
-
I opened the curtains to see one half of the sky black and the other side sunny  Luckily the black was going rather than coming ;) I haven't been out to check the temperature but it feels mild and the wind has dropped quite a bit overnight.
-
Heavy cloud, may or may not rain and still breezy but not as bad as yesterday
-
Cold and windy.. getting windier too :(
-
Clear, cold 2.5C and calm this morning Brr!
-
Very cold and with an even colder breeze. Tactical avoidance of outdoor activity required.
-
We had a frost, but there is blue sky and sun at the moment. We seen to have been spared the really cold wind as well. Its hardly tropical, but a lot better than I was expecting it to be.
-
There's a brass monkey outside looking for a welding shop!
-
-3.2 in the polytunnel this morning. Sun is out now but it's still frosty in the shade.
-
just got back from shopping at Iceland, and its warmer in there than in my house. CH comes on at 4.30pm. :D It has been very grey here today, a couple of glimpses of watery sun and quite cold. Mrs B
-
I've had the heating on all day, and not been properly warm (despite a few layers!) and getting colder now- but it is down to 0C out there already
-
that's too cold - I hate it >:( Mrs B
-
I’m away in N.Ireland for a few days & the day it’s absolutely dreadful, torrential rain, very high winds & f f freezing. It was rather windy as we landed yesterday & there was some turbulence, so glad I wasn’t flying today. Hope it’s better by Wednesday when I fly home 😔
-
It's very still and damp this morning after Storm Diedre came to visit last night. Looks like she's left the patio table in pieces although the greenhouse is still standing. Some clearing up to do.
-
Milder overnight and sunny this morning :)
At least the wind has dropped ...but so has a fence panel :(
-
The amber warning for ice and yellow warning for snow was not surprisingly enough to put off a friend I'd invited round for dinner and to watch the Strictly final yesterday evening.
What we actually got was some rain (no frost, no snow, no ice, no wind.) :nowink:
Quiet and sunny today, although I've been too busy fixing my leaking C/H filter to make much of it so far...
-
Not too cold, a bit drizzly.
-
Very wet underfoot indeed - that's a walk round the allotment paths test shows that. Not as cold as has been but not exactly the late summer temperatures we've had.
-
Mild enough to get insect bites up my chest and neck while gardening this morning !!!! Has been pleasant sunshine, but grey now, and a bit showery. Mrs Bouquet
-
The door is ajar for the cat and it is mild 9C, overcast and breezy.
-
Stormy - rain, wind and cold. Pretty nasty :(
-
Heavy rain showers, max. 9. very grey and windy. Horrid. Mrs B
-
wet all day never came particularly light.
-
Raining when I went to bed, raining when I woke up, so it stayed mild all night +8C.
Everything sodden, the front footpath is awash ::)
Good job I finished shopping yesterday, or I'd have to get my wellies out..
-
Rain overnight again, so mild this morning 8C. I think our local water reserves must be back to normal by now ::)
What's happening up in the stratosphere atm, suggests there may be another Sudden stratospheric warming, like last year, so make sure everything that can hold water is out collecting the stuff - just in case!
-
Damp but sunny this morning. Now it's clouding over and looking rather dark.
-
...
Everything sodden, the front footpath is awash ::)
...
It's still sodden raining here :(
-
Has been sunny with a good breeze. Tomorrow promises bright and sunny. Washing out early ;) Mrs Bouquet
