We bought some secatuers from the Ideal Home Exibish' many many years ago.  There was some form of gearing to them so that when you backed off on the handle another gear ratio came into play (and a third if really needed).  Gone in the mists of time but if anyone recognises this description, please tell as we'd love another pair. :)

Ratchet secateurs, wilkinson sword do or did them, I use a pair for the thicker branches that my felco's can't manage. I've also got a pair of fiskars (normal ones) at the plot that are very good as well, equal to the felco's
