"Aquired" some corrugated plastic sheets
« on: March 23, 2017, 12:32 »
Thinking of improving the covering/surround to my propagation table.  Looking at it, it has a blue tinge to it.  Does anyone know if this will cut down the benificial light frequencies?  Has anyone used it?

Cheers,  Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Long time since 'O' level physics, but if I remember correctly the blue colour is caused by the sheeting reflecting rather than transmitting part of the blue spectrum.

Blue is important for leaf growth, so it's not ideal in that respect, but I doubt very much whether it would make a noticeable difference given the amount of light available in a greenhouse (on a good day!  8))
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

They make the dogs danglers cloches. Just make sure they are anchored down well if high winds are imminent
May the fork be with you

Good morning JayG.
The flexible plastic sheeting (from a carpet salseperson) I have over the propagation table lets through a lot less light than the corrugated.

Shedmeister.
the site of cloches made from this material gave me the idea.

Thanks to the pair of you.  Cheers,  Tony. :)
