Hi can anyone tell me what age I can split chicks away from there mother.  They are 6 weeks old now.

At what stage will the mother start to lay eggs again will this slowly start after she is away from her chicks

mother hen will make it very clear when she is ready to leave the chicks.  I would just let her decide.

When they are fully fledged up and able to keep warm enough on their own.  In cold weather or if the nights are cold they may need to stay together longer.  Some of mine stay together for months taking the growers with them when they return to their main house.  Others cant wait to leave the chicks and get back to normal
I just let them get on with it, seems to work OK :happy:
