It was the beef casserole last night, and will be the rest of the beef sliced (or pulled) with beetroot (out of the clamp and still lovely!) gratin and mash.

Shopping this afternoon (groan!) and then the fridge and cupboards will be restocked with the usual plus the unusual as I will be going into a Big Supermarket   ...  :)

Turkey (wings are in the slow cooker making stock) in white wine and mushroom sauce, runners, mash.  I could do a pie I suppose, but I got a telling off yesterday from the doc about my weight ....  :(

Pouring with rain and lots of eggs in the fridge - time to make some quiches and icecream!  And strain the redcurrant gin I made last year, ready for the heatwave to return.

I like the sound of that gin, I suppose you could use blackcurrants too?

Hubby didn’t fancy a trip to the fish man this morning so it’s steak & kidney out of the freezer with a pastry top, whatever veg I can muster, ooh just remembered I’ve got some cabbages about ready

I've put the recipe for the gin over on the recipes section as gooseberry gin ( the fruit from making that gin then goes into the most lovely ice cream... waste not want not!  ::)) http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=126045.0  The redcurrant is the same quantities and process.

Not sure how it would work with blackcurrants - I use them to make cassis with brandy.  Would be worth a try ....

I've been defrosting the freezer today and unearthed various bits - a bit of beef mince, a pork steak, a few frozen cooked borlotti bean and a couple of hamburgers.  Its all gone into a meatloaf tonight with tomato sauce, served with potatoes and veg.

It was surprisingly good and I have half left for tomorrow  :)

Made some rolls with some of the Lammas Fayre flour this time cut 50/50 with white flour. Much better rise and not so heavy, still tasty though.
Also made a thick chicken, veg and barley soup to go with one of them  :)

Instead of quiche making yesterday, I experimented with a bacon and egg pie - with thoughts of holidays and packed breakfasts.  One for last night hot was good with hm oven chips and salad. Tonight (when we get in which is likely to be late) it will be the other cold with coleslaw and maybe a bread roll for him.

Last night was chana dhal with spinach and coconut, pilau rice and yogurt with mint,

Tonight was tagliatelle in a herby cream sauce with homegrown asparagus, mangetout and green onions, plus some garlic bread :)
