Friendly competions / general allotment showing off :D
« on: February 13, 2017, 21:48 »
Im still relitevly new to this forum so im not sure if this is somthing that is already established...
Do we set up friendly growing competions like biggest pumkin/longest runner bean ETC?
If so do we have a list so I can start getting seeds ready ;)

FYI its been previously mentioned in one of my other posts that 2017 is the year of the Pumpkin ;) (my suggestion)

We do usually have a pumpkin competition.  So many people were struggling with the bad spring and early summer weather last year, we didn't run it, but we had a photo show off thread  :)  The competition proper is for the biggest pumpkin and the prettiest one.  Squash are allowed in as well.

The onions from seed thread isn't really a competition, but come harvest time, we all like to see how each other has done.

If you have a gardening diary on here, people are always up for piccies of anything nice you have grown, plus there is nothing to stop you starting a thread in GYO about beans, or whatever, where people can post pictures and compare notes.

If there is interest in specific crops, I'm sure a couple more competitions could be sorted out, just don't be expecting a haul of glittering prizes  ;)
