New hens
« on: July 27, 2010, 22:56 »
I already have 2 hens and today bought 2 more, I kept them separate for the day and  I was going to put them altogether once it got dark, but one of the new ones is bullying the other new one, so very worried about putting her with others. I have put the other one with others and fingers crossed they will be ok, but what should i do about the aggressive one?

Ideally they should have been kept seperate from the original girls for longer just in case any had an infection, however this information is obviously too late now . The one you call the bully was probably just trying to establish the pecking order which is pretty normal. Did they come from the same breeder and was they raised together?
As you have already introduced one and hopefully she will be accepted quickly I would now introduce the other one sooner rather than later as introducing just one at a time can lead to more problems.
Staffies are softer than you think.
