I would keep them indoors at least until the weather warms up and there is no danger of frost.  I think a coldframe at this time of the year will just be too cold overnight for them

They might do well on a sunny windowsill. So later on you could put some outside and keep some inside.

I should think it's far too cold for them in a coldframe.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Mine are and they seem fine. Keep turning them each day to make sure they don't get leggy.
As soon as the weather allows they can go back into the cold frame.  You have to keep a weather eye open and be prepared to play musical seed trays and bring stuff under cover if we get plunging temperatures

I'm doing habanero for the first time this year, and I've been surprised how tough they are. I always thought the hotter the chilli the more difficult they were to grow. But of the 4 varieties I sowed, the habanero were first up, 100% germination and are growing much faster than the others. The wimpiest ones, last year and this, seem to be Fataalii. Those seedlings couldn't care less about light, they just want to be as close as possible to the boiler :)
