Also try.....Japanese Wineberries....not the cheapest plant and they take 2 or 3 years to produce fruit....but what a fabulous taste!!! deffo my favourite!! :D

Looked them up and they do appear tasty in the piccies - but I know you can't go on that.

Cheapest I can find is on ebay at £28 for 4 plants. What's the going rate, Aggy?

No idea Dave...got mine from Victoriana nurseries a few years back.....not cheap but well worth the money 'cos they crop really well 'n the birds don't eat them...which is something I don't  understand...'cos they is lush!! ;)

Thanks aggy. I'm always looking for something different to try.

I was told the same about Autumn Bliss raspberries (not the expense - the bird proofing) - that person was right - never been touched - one of the few things I don't have to net, whilst all around have fruit cages and no need!!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I got about 10 blackcurrant stalks from Ribena  last year as they had a "collect ten tops " type of thing going on.

keep an eye out for them , they do it every year around this time,
well worth it , * are fast growers

Stick them in now and next year (autumn) you should have some long shoots grown....tie these to the wires, these are what the next years  fruit grow on. (you should have some fruit next year too).

ive just had a call from a mate who is clearing a patch of ground for someone at the back of there garden.

he has found some blackberrys growing  (i expect they would be self set)

he has dug them up and wondered if i wanted them!

are they worth having do you think?

he said they have a good strong root system

thanks

nathan
