They are beautiful
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

They certainly have a look, although I think it's actually "We promise it wasn't us quacking at midnight and waking the world!"

Little monkeys.  But today they've been very well behaved.

Very timid though...

I do like the look of Khaki Campbells but have also found Campbells very nervy.

Have fun, I love my ducks!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Yes they are gorgeous looking but they don't seem keen on being handled.  Hopefully over time they will gain confidence.  We have chickens too and maybe the ducks will learn from them.  The chickens haven't a problem following us around the garden or jumping up on our laps.

If anyone has advice on how to give them more confidence that would be great - they're 10 months old or thereabouts...

Mealworms is generally the way forward although as mentioned, Campbells are well known for being nervous. My first ducks were Campbells and I have had them for almost 4 years from 6 weeks old and they are still skittish and will not be handled. I raised one from an egg with daily handling and very friendly as a duckling but as soon as he was mature he became nervous and wouldn't be handled!

Bribery is however a good way forward and they will get used to having you about. Mine come running up for treats and the like but don't expect them to ever like being handled.

I've had 3 khaki campbells since may, they do not like being handled but will come when i whistle and will follow me in the garden, they watch us through the windows and always run down when i get in from work, they are really fussy eaters, worms and slugs were the best way to get them coming up to me. i keep meaning to try them on maggots from the fishing tackle shop, oh they also love snails after i have stamped on them!
also rice krispies but i have read on here recently this may not be a good idea because of salt and sugar content.

They are lovely!
I've got 2 Khaki Campbels and as others have said, although friendly they are not really cuddly ducks.
Mine will come into the house though, and when one of them was ill this year all she wanted to do was snuggle up on my lap and feel sorry for herself, so I think they can be affectionate when it suits them  :)

..hmm a bit like cats eh!

We had some progress yesterday.  The past few nights the process of getting them away into their house has involved a lot of quacking and running around all over the place.  Last night, they just knew what they had to do, and one by one ran along into their house.  I hope this is a regular thing.

We chose campbells because they're meant to be quiet and so whilst it's a shame they're not all cute and cuddly, if it means we can keep them in the garden without the neighbours wanting to kill us then that's great!!

I also choose Campbells for their reputation of being quiet but I have to say they are the noisiest of all my ducks! Luckally my neighbours like the noise they make otherwise I would be in bother!

Oh - well hopefully ours will stay quiet.  They constantly 'talk' to us when we're around, but you can bearly hear it.  And they quack very loudly when something scares them (either a cat or us trying to put them away).

Adorable though - they're not yet as entertaining as our hens though...
