Title: Greenhouse Shading
Post by: jane0o0 on May 26, 2018, 16:13
I'm growing tomatoes and have purchased some shading. Do you put the shading on both sides of the greenhouse plus roof or just one side? I have tomato plants growing on both sides.

It depends on the aspect of your greenhouse. Mine lies on an NW/SE axis, so I put shading only on the sunny sides., I.e the south east end, and the south west side and roof. I think that's right! Any way, I put it on the bits the sun shines on.

My greenhouse faces the sun directly on one of the long sides, and I only ever need to put shading on this side.  As already said, it depends on the orientation of your own greenhouse.  Try the most obvious side first, and see if it provides enough shade throughout the day. You can always add more if needed.

I shade the side and roof on the side that gets the afternoon sun, which in my case is the southish side.

I shade the south facing roof.  I find that is sufficient without shading the sides or anything on the north facing side.
