These survived the trip from plant to carrier bag.

Next problem - pod to saucepan?

Lemon included for scale purposes (it's a 12" bowl) & was not picked at the same time.

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I did say these are the one's that got home! I'm trying to be considerate to the others in the household who prefer them cooked. (Strange tastes some people).

So tonight it's peas & baby carrots, cauliflower, first digging of Lady Christl spuds & home made mint sauce.

The remainder of the peas have already made it to the freezer for Christmas dinner.

Oh - I think we're having lamb as well as the veg!

I always make a point of letting them know, so they can spontaneously tell me how delicious they are!

DD, do you have any particular way to freeze your peas so that they don't stick together or get huge clumps of ice on them?  (And I don't just mean put them in the freezer   )
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Not really.

If I know I'm going to want a largish quantity for a specific occasion, such as Christmas dinner, then they all go into margarine tubs, as they can be dumped into the saucepan literally en bloc.

Others I'll freeze 'flat packed', only a few deep in a re-sealable poly bag. It's easy to knock off what you want then & the bag can be re-used when empty. (Tight-fist!). Obviously draining off as much water as possible helps.

Can't be bothered with messing about with freezing them spread out on a tray and then bagging once frozen, but this is a non-stick option. (More helpful with larger fruit IMHO).

It's better to be a bit late rather than too early. If you're over eager the grounds too cold & germination's poor.
