It's possible you have an ant's nest in your bed or nearby. Try poking a stick into the soil and if you see lots running about, that's where it will probably be. You can set ant traps or apply a blob of ant killer on a flat stone or whatever then place the stone at an angle so they can get at it from underneath. PS - best to wear wellies just in case!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I suspect it's small slugs eating the strawberries and the ants are just going into the holes. Maybe try some slug pellets.

I'll second Nobbie. I suspect the main culprit has gone and they're after the leftovers.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'm growing strawbs out of hanging baskets and the pesky ants have found their way into all 3. The only damage ive seen though is consistent with birds. I'm not worried about the ants, should I be?

An 'ant' update; I was on holiday last week and covered my hanging basket strawbs with carrier bags. Got home, still infested with ants but no damage to the fruits. The ants arent noshing your strawbs in my opinion its something else.

Ants do not usually attack strawberries (although as other posters have indicated, lots of things do!!) but their nests cause soil disturbance that affect plant roots. We seem to have a big problem with them making nests in potted plants this year
