How exactly should you harden plants off? I have tomatoes and courgettes ready to go outside , no coldframe or greenhouse. I have just been putting them out in the day and bringing them in at night, how long should this go on and do you leave them out in the garden before you plant out or what?

You are doing the right thing.  Once you decide to plant them into final position, you might want to cover them at first at nights with a fleece or with polythene bubblewrap.

I have been leaving my runner beans outside over night aswell, though obvouisly if we have a late cold snap then they will get protected.
