We have 12 x 5wk old chicks just now and a nine week old. My question is can I spray them with a little net-tex as one of our adult hens is a pecker and I mean a vicious pecker? The little ones are all needing more space to run around in and I would like to let them loose in the garden with the rest of the hens. My daughter arrived here on holiday last night and brought me some net-tex spray which I thought would be a possible solution but on reading the bottle this morning it says not to be used on young immature birds. I don't know what to do now. Can anyone help? Thanks, Maggie

These birds are still immature so as the container says don't use on immature I wouldn't. Have you tried fitting a beak clip onto the vicious pecker? They can still eat and drink but struggle to grip hold of a feather.

Maggie, I wouldn't worry too much.  The babies will be agile enough to escape the bigger hens, just make sure they have somewhere to hide.
