Title: what plant is this?
Post by: Caretaker on November 04, 2011, 12:50
You see them for sale in garden centre's and supermarkets, they are a small pot plant, they have a centre plumage that is like the Pampus grass but they are coloured some orange, red, or yellow.
Now what is the name?

No 'picture' only in my head. :)

This plant brings back many memories, namely it was the plant that I "knicked" when I first met by husband :tongue2:.  He was a security guard at Shell Chemicals in Carrington, Manchester.  I worked part time at the social club (its now the training ground for Manchester City).  Anyway, it was the Silver Jubliee of the then Queen Julianna of the Netherlands, and a lot of dignatiries had been celebrating and the club had been decorated with all sorts, including these plants.  So me and the others who had been working, had after-hour drinks and food and when we were leaving, we helped ourselves to these plants, and Tom (my hubby) had come to make sure everything was secure.  We had heard that Shell security were really strict, so we hid them (under blouses, and everywhere else I won't mention, but was very uncomfortable when you walked ).  Tom started chatting me up, found I was taking them, and gave me a lift home, with more plants and putting them in their vehicle and he drove me home :D.  We have been married 36 years this Tuesday.  Something I will never forget
