Best and easiest free way to start a simple blog.
« on: December 15, 2017, 14:10 »
Having recently be introduced to take part in someone's blog (something I know nowt about) they suggested I create one of my own so people can read my poems etc. How do I go about it without getting flummoxed by teccie terms?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Try Simplesite... so easy even I can manage it. I got bogged down with Wordpress, despite others singing its praises, and Blogger was not really for me, but this one is what it says... simple

Goosers, if you use Google Chrome,- say as another site address, you can easily do one for free from there. It is very easy to create an account and set one up, and once you're ready, you just press a button and away you go!

You'll need to download Chrome first. I actually have three email accounts, and two are with Chrome, one with a totally different blog, which I've run for well over ten years. There is even another, which is from a defunct BT account, which somehow still survives, and I use that for an old school memory lane.

It seems quite a minefield out there, but is in fact quite easy to set up. Try this for starters. If it goes wrong, you can alsways start again! It's all free!

Sunshine is right.

I swear at swear by wordpress, but it's not for those who don't have a basic grasp of HTML if you want to make the most of it. Simplesite.com really is a great place to start and if you really get the blogging bug you can always consider taking the next step up to a more advanced platform if you want to take more control of your blog :)

Hi and thanks for all your replies. I don't have Google Chrome so decided to try Simple Site. Set up the title, colours, background pic, image pic and all went fine until I saw the actual page. The title is there but I have an ad containing my image pic that is overlying most of the selected background pic and I can't get rid of it unless I get PRO whatever that is. Now I've just downloaded Chrome, wrote my password down first then entered it twice (as you do) and I can't log in despite several goes. BUM! Getting a verification code sent so hopefully I might just get something going shortly.

Hang in there Goosey, it'll work I assure you!

I was very nervous when I first started my own blog, but believe me, it'll all kick in once you're familiar with the start-up stuff, which is a doddle...

Again, PM me if you want any more help!

Cheers Growster. Think my brain was too tired yesterday, but that won't stop a Gooser getting to grips with it as I've just had my head under a rather large old sideboard hoovering out strange accumulated detritus and was really not looking forward to it at all. Now it's done the cobwebs have gone from my befuddled brain so I'll have another go before I pm you. x

I don't remember having adverts on mine at all, but maybe things have changed since I first started using Simplesite... that was a couple of years back now.

Hope you get something suitable sorted soon.
