« on: April 23, 2014, 13:16 »
And my seedlings have gone into rocket mode.
i am going to have to plant out this weekend. I swear they are growing before my eyes.

Hubby is going to be sooooo pleased when he sees how mad I went with the lettuce. Lettuce glut just around the corner LOL

There are plenty of snails and slugs this year so perhaps not as much as a glut as you think there may be  ::)

Pellets at the ready here. I can not get my head around lettuce soup. Is it served cold.

My sister has a recipe for a lettuce soup that is served warm. I was sceptical about it until I tasted it because it's blooming marvellous.  I'll look for the recipe for you.

Recipes say hot or cold. I prefer hot soup too, have had gazpacho but wasn't excited by it!

I am a nightmare for hot food, hubby gets so cross as I serve up mine and have to microwave it. I have memories of being sat at the table as a kid till I ate dinner by which time it was cold, sausages in gravy cold. Ewwwww still give me the shivers now.

My dad made a mistake as I didnt eat sausages in gravy as a kid.  ::) honestly it haunts me.  I do eat them now but only hot. LOL

It's amazing what a little rain can do.  I think my potatoes grew two inches yesterday alone!

Things always seem to grow more quickly after rain than watering them with tap water.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I've never used slug pellets in my life before, but I put some out last night.

I thought I was imaging it. I'm glad someone else has noticed. I've got two theories:

1 - Rain water contains different trace minerals when compared with tap water

2 - Plants may be more effective at using the water in the soil when the air is damp too, because the plant isn't battling against evaporation

3 - I could be talking total guff
