We have free council compost in York.
There are set dates when u can go and collect it yourself , its not bagged but u can take as much as you like even bring a trailer.

Not been yet but thinking of going to the next one.

Any York area members on here who have been?
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I'd need to know exactly how they process the waste before I would buy the council compost.  I only put in my green bin at home what I would not dream of keeping in the garden or my compost heap.  Perennial weeds, diseased plants, tough leaves that take an age to compost, etc.  I read below that the compost came back still very hot, so that sounds promising, good for killing off all those spores?  For now I will stay well clear of this type of compost.
