Hi-I've recently moved house & there is a large grapevine in the garden. At the moment there is no sign of any buds but after searching through some threads found out that they should come around April time. Is there a chance last years harsh winter may of killed it? Thanks

Be patient. Grapes are about the last plant to leaf out. They're very cold sensitive and if there isn't a run of warm days, then it will stay asleep until the weather is to its liking. Sometimes I don't see mine budding until June and my late spring temps are warmer than yours.

i planted one last year and at the moment it just looks like a dead twig but just to be sure (iwas going to dig it up) i snapped a small peice off and it was definately alive, so there is hope yet

I had a grape vine in my unheated greenhouse and that only came into bud at about the end of April.
They do look like dead twigs because of all the loose bark/skin an them but they are quite hardy.
Just give it until May time and i think you will be pleasantly surprised.
