Hi, I was thinking of getting a grape vine for the greenhouse as I thought it might give some natural shading in the summer and provide fruit.  I've read that Black Hamburg is the one to get for eating grapes.  Anyone tried this, or got a better idea.  Thanks.

I've had Black Hamburg grape vine in my greenhouse for at least 10 years.  The grapes are sooooo sweet.  It grows like mad.  Each spring I feed it with chicken pellets and keep it well watered.  When the leaves turn brown and dry late in the year I cut it back hard.  It was supposed to be a seedless variety - but this only lasted the first year.  The grapes are still yummy though.  It does provide good shade.  I had to fix some wires to the roof of the green house for it to climb along.  Hope this helps
