Here's hoping everyone has a very successful and slightly drier growing year ahead.

Good luck!!

You're ahead of yourself Paul  :D

Locked until 2013  ;)  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Would you like a mod to "sticky" this for you, Paul, as you can't?

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'd think in 2 more days it would be an idea.

Otherwise, Beam me up, Scotty, has taken on a whole new meaning here.

I can't really say that I've done it yet, but I know that I'm going to do nothing on the plot today, indeed for several days.

The worst thing to do with it a the moment is to try and work on it until it's had time to dry out. That could be months yet!

Woke up keen so I got over to the plot to take my new wellies for a spin and dug over a smallish area that was home to squash and turnips - I've been walking over it so it was probably needed.  I also managed a modest harvest of four parsnips to start the new year.

Starting. As I mean to go on!

I walked to the bottom of the garden and looked at our little home veg patch.

Saw the fox slink off through the hedge...

Added a tub full of peelings to the compost heap and enjoyed a splash of sunshine.

I must sort through my seed packets and put them in order of sowing - no rush.  ;)

The water has subsided so I made a raised bed border. (Sorry about the fuzzy photo, I must've got too excited)

Went to survey the plot-not been down for 5months as ive had a baby and i've been ill.
Plot not too bad, grass is dying which saves me weed-killing it. Pulled out weeds from 3 beds and put in a pile ready for burning. Moved some planks of wood that had found their way into the pond somehow.
Got home and decided to plan out what i'm going to plant this year, and put a shout out on Facebook for horse manure, fence posts and use of a petrol strimmer!

That FaceBook idea sounds a good one!   Here's wishing you success with the plot and a rest!

Now that I have taken (very) early retirement a New Year Resolution is to go to the plot more often and so........
Starting as I mean to go on, went yesterday and took pictures of existing plot and new one. Tidied up a bit, played 'hunt the parsnips' as the top foliage has died away and now I have to guess where they are, repaired damage to brassica nets made by foxes using it as a trampoline (square frame covered in scaffold netting) and began to plan how the new plot would unfold.
Spotted that there has been a manure delivery so plan today is to top up raised beds and begin covering new plot to stop weed growth.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Beautiful sunny day to start the new year  :D

Went to the plot and finished feeding and mulching the fruit bed, the bluberry bed, and stand alone fruit trees and all the balckberries, tayberries etc on the wires.

Pruned the gooseberries and red currants -- they'll need more taken off but at least I can see their shape again
