My butternut squash plants are romping away on the window sill and begining to trail.   Is it too soon to plant them out?   I'm going to plant them in an old barrow, 3'x2'x 2' deep, how many could I plant in that space?   I've not grown them before. :?:

Frost is generally forecast for the end of the week so keep them inside.

When you do put them out, your barrow will hold one plant.

I'd put them outside or cold frame to harden off, but watch out for late frosts.

Then plant out in your barrow late may-june time - remember that they are very thirsty plants so make sure the barrow doesn't dry out.  I'd probably line the barrow or put thick layer of shredded newspaper at the bottom to hold water.

agree with wellies on this, I am sowing mine at the end of the month witha a view of transplanting at the end of May.

I sowed my squash at the weekend and already they are 1-2 inches tall... damn fast germination..
