Hi

I dont know if anyone can offer me any help but i would like to get some extra rasberry canes to add to the ones i already have both me and mum have some but dont know how to use the runners.  I dont know what i am looking for so dont know if i have any but mum told me that she has some coming through her lawn.

How do we remove them from where they and then what should i do with them?

Thanks for any help

they will sprout up around the bottom of your existing canes.  my 3 canes produced 8/9 new shoots this spring.  then if you want to move them i think the time to do it is november.

So the runners my mums talking about that are a good few feet away from the canes do you think they aren't canes?

they could be,  they spring up all over the place!  not just a few inches away.... i think my furthest was about a couple of feet away but then i do have lots of other thing growing around my canes (like rose bushes).

it is quite ok to take the suckers for new plants.  the best time to move them is when they have lost there leaves in early winter, try to get a fair bit of root on each cane you dig up.  once you have moved them cut the canes down to about 18" and by rights you should not let them fruit the first year :D
